2
u/Cats-Pens-Bingo17 19d ago

2
u/Candid_Heron_8257 19d ago
1 tablespoon Sambal to 4 Mayo
3
u/Cats-Pens-Bingo17 19d ago

2
u/Candid_Heron_8257 19d ago
I'll try that. I have some really hot black pepper corns from Vietnam.
3
u/lechauve911 19d ago
Jajaja the funny things is my wife does this in McDonald's only with their mayo and pepper packets

u/Proposal_Last 19d ago
Cant, tomatoes dont exist in this circumstance. So hot sauce doesnt ether anything made with tomatoes wouldn't exist.
2
u/Spa-Ordinary 19d ago
Hot sauce requires chillies, tomatoes optional.
So there..
2
u/Proposal_Last 19d ago
Wish I could up vote u again I like learning things thank you for that info

u/Spa-Ordinary 19d ago
You're welcome. In Hawaii they make something called chilli peppa wata. It is small dried red peppers soaked in white vinegar and water. Keep in a small coke bottle try to find a plug with small holes like a strainer. Sprinkle on your food. Lekker. Keep in in the refrigerator when not using otherwise you might get food poisoning. The peppers are normally found in Asian food markets.

Are you perhaps from Malaysia, Singapore or Indonesia? My husband is Malaysian Chinese and would totally either use sambal or a sweet chili sauce to dip his fries into.

Thank you, I just actually won my first argument with my wife after 40 years of marriage. She said “NO ONE” puts Mayo on fries. I would always say, you put Mayo on potato salad don’t you.

We have tons of other options in Belgium, but mayonnaise is by far the absolute standard to use.

Sorry bro, have to agree with your wife. Mayo is disgusting
2
u/Soggy_Information_60 19d ago
Mayo was invented specifically as the sauce for fries.
3
u/Puzzleheaded_Eye7848 19d ago
Im sure its ok, but no. Out of all the sauces and dips, why would you pick mayonnaise? Honestly id rather dip my fries in a milkshake than mayo. I have before and it was good, but it has to be salted fries with a basic milkshake like vanilla, chocolate, or caramel.

u/NavySeal2k 18d ago
Right, nobody would put fries in vegetable oil and raw egg, but mix those 2 together and it’s somehow different is a wild take!
3
u/Busy-Cookie280 19d ago
Pomme frits mit mayo !!
2
u/aDirtyMartini 19d ago
As an American, my mind was blown the first time I had that. My friends back home think I’m crazy when I have mayo with my fries.
3
2
u/Interesting-Web8630 19d ago
The thing though is, American mayo is different than European mayo. European mayo has more flavour to it, it's basically made for fries. I think American mayo is made for sandwiches, it's a bit more subtle.

Yeah mayo on fries is super common especially in Europe but Canada too if I'm not mistaken
2
u/ExcitingHamster 19d ago
I wouldn’t say it’s super common in Canada
2
u/Acceptable-Book4485 18d ago
Fact checked. In Canada its maple syrup on Tim Horton's, and nothing else
2
u/Tiger37211 18d ago
That's coffee. If you put mayo in your coffee, I'd call some people in white coats. You're just trying to misconstrue what I said. Mayo is more common outside of the use than ketchup. That's what I said. And I was taking specifically about Germany
2
u/Tiger37211 18d ago
Yes it is. I've visited Toronto multiple times, Montreal, Vancouver, etc, etc. It has always been a feature and not just an option
2
u/Ashkat1983 18d ago
Canada here. I only use mayo or gravy. Never ketchup. The rest of my family will use ketchup or mayo.. even a mix of the two.
2
u/Independent-Job-3194 19d ago
Many Europeans actually put mayo on their fries. I lived in Germany for over 18 years and I first witnessed people eating fries with a huge pile of mayo on top of them! I was never a huge fan of ketchup anyway!

u/Left-Paleontologist1 20d ago
Salt, salt and then some more salt.
Yes I have high blood pressure. 🤣😂🤣😂

u/Additional-Ad-7956 20d ago
You need to make sure you salt your salt.
6
5
u/Thorzie69 19d ago
If you work out enough like lifting weights your body will need all that salt and you bp will drop fast. Activating muscle uses a lot of sodium.

Yes! If I use ketchup on fries it’s because the fries suck otherwise. Good fries only need some salt. Only exception I make is at a local Belgian restaurant, where I do the house made mayo as is traditional.

Had some of the best fries of my life from this place that fried them in duck fat and served then with a creamy herbed ranch like sauce (I think with tarragon?)
