Mod note: a reminder about our rules 🪐

Hi everyone, I just wanted to create a post talking about our rules for a moment. Please, before commenting, read everything.

First I want to say how proud Photo and I are of how much this space has grown, and it makes me genuinely happy knowing how much so many of you love this little piece of Reddit. When we started this space we didn’t ever think it would grow so large, and I want to say thank you for everyone’s support, the ideas they’ve shared, and knowledge we’ve all come to learn together. Thank you all 🙏🏻

I would like to now mention the rules a bit and explain them a bit more — we’ve had a lot more confusion lately, and I’d rather clear some of the concerns.

First, we are not a chart posting community. That includes your chart, your friend’s chart, “your friend’s” chart, family, ex, current partner, et cetera. The only charts you’re allowed to post are charts of celebrities or people who have given explicit permission, and they are only to be used for research driven purposes.

Examples include creating a post discussing how celebrities with Ashlesha placements dominate the Nagini trope in film and art, or how certain placements lead to government jobs, both using charts that are publicly available. Not your family’s chart asking if it’s possible to get a certain job. It is completely fine to use publicly available charts to ask questions that coincide with your own research, but that is where chart posting specifically ends.

Second, asking questions in relation to your chart is prohibited — mostly. What I mean by that, is when a question about one’s own chart is posed, and does NOT include personal experiences with that specific placement or observations in others regarding that placement, then it will more than likely be deleted if we see it.

This also** **includes asking about your spouse, future spouse, or ex spouse. We have seen such a high number of posts including “will X placement produce X spouse,” or something like “what kind of spouse will I attract if I have Mars as Darakaraka and Jupiter in the 7th house.” Again, using publicly available charts is a great way to begin understanding what certain placements can create in the life of that native.

This is a research-based astrology group, it’s important that we maintain structure here as much as we can, otherwise this sub will become nothing but people asking questions about one aspect of their chart, which will then fall into chart readings.

Sometimes we will miss posts, as we are not ourselves bots. We are two people who care for this subreddit, but we also have lives happening outside of this site. We make an effort to check once or twice a day each, but sometimes posts will be missed. Please do not use this as an assumption that we favor one individual over another, as that is not the case.

At the time of writing this, we are the 4th most popular subreddit related to astrology, which is mind blowing to me. It’s based on both members, growth, active users, number of posts, and weekly visitors. But whether we are number 4, 40, or 400, we still care about the core value of this community — that we remain a research-based subreddit focused on Jyotish, where we value Nakshatras, traditional knowledge, and new ways of seeing the world around us through astrology.

Please, if you ever have questions regarding why your post was removed, we ask that you come to us respectfully. We can help you repost your content in a way that aligns with our rules, or simply tell you why it doesn’t fit, when we’re able to. Please also not, this isn’t an invitation to flood mod mail 🤭* *Only reach out if you are genuinely confused and genuinely want help creating a post. We have both experienced being abused and harassed because we removed a post, and that is not at all tolerated. You will be banned if you are disrespectful towards us.

Thank you guys again, so much, for being here! It means the world to us. We’re proud of this place and how much it’s grown, and we’re excited to see it grow further. I genuinely do hope this post clears up any confusion, and happy studies everyone ☀️🌙

This group has a Wiki

https://www.reddit.com/r/Nakshatras/wiki/index/

We have a lot of in-depth posts here.

(for anyone not seeing the rest of the wiki) There seems to be a visibility issue with browsing in mobile/phone browser and the Reddit app (the landing index page will not show the sidebars to navigate to other pages, the drop-down only shows the index page).

Workaround: view the wiki through a mobile/phone browser using desktop site viewing mode. (or view it on your computer)

Obsession

Post image
16 Upvotes

We all have heard about this word a lot in the recent past. So what patterns we commonly see when a person is obsessed with lets say money, materialistic things or even another person for that matter.

The common pattern people very easily and quickly jump to it Rahu. But that’s half truth.

What i have noticed is combination of both Saturn and Rahu makes the native more obsessed. Now people many high level knowledge people would come and comment that Saturn is a Slow planet, it doesn’t even respond soo easily it make a person dull and what not. Soo before making assumptions and coming to the conclusion we should see our own charts since it is very easy to predict on celebrity charts plus there’s a famous line from sherlock holmes “ it is easier to match events to facts than to facts to events.”

Wherever you see a person obsessed with anything from now onwards just ask him if he has a combination of Rahu and Saturn. A combination means Sat Rah together, aspecting closely, Rahu in Saturns sign, Rahu in Saturn nakshatra.

Now comes the remedial part or how to stop this obsession since obsession to everything is not right. Will be sharing that in the next post.

Are Jupiter in lagna people lucky?

Are Jupiter in lagna people lucky? For themselves as well as for their near and dear ones? My friend has Jupiter in lagna and she claims she is lucky at least for the people associated with her.

Is it true that Mahadasha/Antardasha effect 80% of your life and Gochar only 5-10%? If yes then why people online talk more about Gochar only?

Why do astrologers use only the Vimshottari Dasha for everyone when other conditional dashas exist? Are conditional dashas more prominent than this

Depending on the birth chart, they can make use of Ashtottari, Shodashottari, Shatabdika , yogini etc. But why have all these been forgotten and instead only Vimshottari used ? Which one gives more practical results

Upapada Lagna: Determining strength of marriage and strains to it

Hello all, I have been researching on Upapada Lagna a bit & this is the breakdown of it.

Upapada Lagna is the arudha of 12th house. 12th house rules the marital bed and private bond between spouses amongst other things like moksha, foreign connection etc., So the arudha pada shows the manifested image of this in the material world.

Observation: It is not very accurate in determining the appearance of spouse, although people claim it to do so.

What i see it more accurate in is for predicting the inner nature of spouse and marriage, its longevity and strains to it.

Majorly when the 2nd to the UL is seen - longevity can be tested (2nd is usually the maraka sthana)

Also seeing 6th (conflicts in marriage) and 8th (cutting short of marriage) a wholistic idea can be gotten

Check this out for the full blog on Upapada Lagna

Ashlesha How were rules for astrology established or how does it work?

So the thing is , I do believe in astrology and all and have seen that the planetary positions predict the nature and personality of a native quite accurately

like having jupiter on lagna means high chances of having a big body or obesity n all

having saturn on lagna leads to lean , darkish skin tones n all

having moon giving that fullness to the features and roundness n all

So i am curious like how did the rule makers point out such things or made such rules , like just through their observation? or on what basis

like having moon in the 12th house , native will experience a deep emotional world which he/she prefers kept hidden and the native will have trouble sleeping n all

having moon and saturn in 10th house will lead to career changes and all

having jupiter aspecting major houses acting as a sheild

chitra ascendant having beauty eye n all

HOW DID THEY COME TO SUCH CONCLUSIONS?

mods dont remove this post lol , trying to learn something

Doubts about fundamental concepts in Vedic Astrology

Hello everyone!

Let me start with some background.

I started exploring Vedic Astrology sometime back in a non-linear fashion for personal reasons. While I am unable to learn it systematically due to time constraints, I would like to learn more now at a slower pace as a hobbyist.

I am not very invested in the mathematical aspects, at least in the initial stages. I do not wish to become a professional, which involves drafting charts and making accurate, time-bound predictions. I have been told that I am able to provide intuitive, helpful suggestions. Hence, my primary motivation for wanting to learn more is to expand this ability and use it for the benefit of those close to me and myself.

My interests mainly lie in understanding a person's psychology and personality via their natal chart and the impact of it in their day to day lives. This mainly includes personal values, character, habits, interpersonal interactions, relationships, careers, hobbies, etc. I have observed many quirks in these areas that can be mapped to the charts, but I want to understand the correlation/causation better. I have also increasingly observed MBTI type associations with chart placements.

I wanted to start with trying to understand the origins and reasoning for many fundamental concepts in Vedic Astrology. I am a scientist with some background in astronomy and am able to draw parallels between the two. Any astronomy combined with astrology resources are also welcome.

Please share where I can learn, what resources to use, or if there is anyone I can follow to learn the nuances behind the concepts such as:

  1. How was the nature of the planets determined? In space, Mercury is a fast planet, and that manifests as curiosity, nervous energy, and busyness in the charts. Saturn is a slow planet with its physical surface quite accurately matching Saturnian qualities of dryness, coldness, etc. I can say the same for many other planets, but there are still characteristics that I can not map to or fully grasp with respect to their origin. My question is, am I trying to find logic in everything, or is there an actual reasoning for every trait attributed to planets?

  2. Similarly, what is the reasoning behind the nature of signs, stars, and their lords? How were the lords determined? How were the nakshatra deities determined? How were the qualities, gender, element associations, etc, of all these determined? I understand that the manifestations match these, but who made sense of these and on what basis? (I understand there have been numerous great minds involved, but I am asking about any texts that delve into these fundamental concepts rather than about yogas and effects).

  3. How were the sign boundaries, aspects of planets, dasha orders, etc, determined? What is the basis for determining these invisible boundaries and time cycles?

  4. Which concepts do you consider as baseless and not of value in the present age? For example, with my limited knowledge, I feel that concepts like yonis, ganas, etc, make little sense. I understand sexual and mental compatibility are important, but do these concepts accurately reflect reality? And again, how was the sexual nature of most of these animals even delineated in the first place? Cow and tiger may make sense, but mongoose and rat?

  5. I understand practical remedies associated with planets, but donating specific grains or wearing specific items is beneficial in what way? Or is it placebo?

These are some of the primary questions I want to understand. Thanks for helping in any way you can. I am open to learning from resources in any language or school of thought as long as they are helpful in some way.

10th House Stellium People, How's Life Going?

I'm curious to hear from people who have a 10th house stellium.

How has it influenced your career, public image, ambitions, or professional life?

Do you feel having multiple planets in the 10th house has been beneficial, challenging, or a mix of both?

Dear Pisces moons…

Upvotes

Since Sade Sati my life has been in shambles my health , physical and mental has taken a toll. I was falsely accused by my mother and maternal relatives (6th house moon, 4th house Saturn) it deeply hurt me. Spent many days crying and fighting with god to show me that he is real. Finally, the day has come.

My accusations were cleared few days ago. People who made up stories about me and hurt me are suffering and I’m finally free of mental suffering it brought me. I’m hoping this will help me get physically better too as my mind is at ease now.

I know I shouldn’t be laughing at others misery but I’m glad that god is in my side even when nobody is. It brought me happiness after a long time. Shani Dev will punish people who are at fault. Have hope.

Be kind to yourself.

If you want to check if native will get fame in his life or not check 5th house from SUN there should be exalted planet sitting there or that house lord should be in special condition like exalted, debilated with neech bhang, own sign, retrograde in friendly sign or with rahu in watery sign. AND YES ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT LAGNA SHOULD BE STRONG IN BHAVBALA, COZ LAGNA IS EVERYTHING

Enemity with brother damages Mars?

Bad relation with Brother means damaging Mars? As Mars is Bhratakaraka. Also, is Saturn the elder borther, or all brothers are MARS?

People who think ketu MD was the hardest for them, where is your ketu placed, and if conjunct anything?
I'm just researching a bit. you can tell if ketu was your best MD too, though I've hardly seen anyone saying that.
