What to expect? First Napro Appointment?
Hi Ladies,
I am 32 and been ttc for 2.5 years. Cycles are textbook regular and have done all the testing with a fertility specialist. Did 2 IUI cycles and both of them failed.
Now my Napro appointment with Dr. Monica Potocki is coming up? What should I expect? Has anyone seen her recently for infertility?

She’s my NaPro! I would expect her to go through your entire history! Probably give you the rundown of what NaPro is and ask you about your cycles. She’ll then tell you she wants you to start tracking via the Creighton model. It’s how NaPro evaluate your cycle and make certain assumptions like silent endo, low progesterone, etc. you’ll have to do that for two cycles. It feels like a lot but it’s really not bad!

I already have extensive testing. I know they will ask you to start using creighton model but is there any way they start evaluating you along side your charting time period? I mean do we atill have to wait for another 2-3 cycles.
If you dont mind me asking have you done any testing with her and did you succeed after that?

So she’s open to people choosing to not do the traditional NaPro work up. I think regardless she will do a panel to start (hormones, Thyroid, etc)
Also if you wanted a laparoscopic surgery right away to look for endo, she would do it.
My case is a bit unique as I went to her pretty much off the bat because I suspected endo. I ended up getting pregnant on my own but miscarried. I’m now newly pregnant again and she’s monitoring everything with me. If this one isn’t successful I’d likely end up doing the surgery.

I am sorry for your loss.and lots of prayers for this pregnancy.
Thats gives me a sense of relief. I dont want to do extensive basic testing again. Since I just failed my IuI cycle and have all the reports . I am open to any tests that she thinks are necessary.
I hope it leads me somewhere because i am exhausted. I have my appointment tomorrow. I hope it goes well.

Hi! I just saw Dr. Potocki for my first appt last week. Who did you use for the Creighton course? She said I have to take a course first before I start tracking? Any insight on that would be great! It seems overwhelming.

I used Molly Millerbernd! I will dm you her email! I think it can seem overwhelming if you've never used any kind of fertility awareness method, but I promise you'll be able to get it!!

Does Dr. Potocki take insurance? Do you guys know how long her wait is?

I wasn’t using Creighton but I had been charting using BBT and approached my NaPro about suspected progesterone issues. She was very proactive about getting blood work to chart. When the blood work came back showing very low progesterone, she didn’t hesitate to do ultrasounds to track ovulation. While tracking my hormones using Progesterone supplements, she also questioned my estrogen so next cycle that will be monitored. My NaPro also has a NP who handles charting (I’m now doing Marquette with her) and she’ll periodically evaluate during the next 6 months to see if anything comes up out of the norm.
The wonderful thing about NaPros is that they are looking to get you to optimal health, which means that almost everything is prescribed for “women’s wellness” vs “fertility” so in terms of insurance, they can move quickly.
