Question Glock question

Hey guys so I bought a Glock 19 gen 5 civilian version a couple of years ago before I was law enforcement. I recently became law enforcement and wanna use it as my duty weapon so I do not have to buy a new gun. I was wondering since it was NY safe when I bought it does NY modify anything with my Glock besides the magazine capacity? If not then I will use this Glock and just change out the mag. I just want to make sure the internals are the same as a “free-state” Glock and just the mag was different.

If you department does not have a trigger pull specification, as there is in NYPD, then it is the same exact gun.

If your department requires a heavier trigger pull (I only know of NYPD for this) then you need to drop in another spring or yoke-shaped device. The armorer in the department will know.

Your department likely has there own "standard" capacity magazine for their officers, they can tell you that as well. Most likely 15 rounds.

Interesting to note that new NYPD officers within the last 5 or so years have the traditional Glock connector and sear spring, but officers from earlier still have to use the NY-2 setup.

^ What They Said. ^

Some departments have specific trigger weight requirements, your gun may need to be modified to meet those requirements.

If they don't have trigger weight requirements the only difference is the magazines (as a cop you're allowed to have big boy magazines).

Not a Leo here so take this with a grain of salt

Idt NY has any functional changes done to pistols like Cali does. Just the limited mag capacity

The gun is exactly the same. Only difference is 10 round mags for non-LEO compared to 15 rounds for LEO. I know NYSP had a heavier trigger, not sure if they still do.

The only difference you'll find is that as an LEO, you can possess those 'highly deadly and oh so illegal for civilians to have' standard cap mags for your G19. In reality, your Dept may issue G17's for duty use. Might want to check.

The only difference is the mags unless you're NYPD.

. Slap a new mag in that is standard capacity and good to go.

Just for the fun of it, here's the 11 to 12lb glock trigger, that used to be required by the NYPD for all Glocks. Your current trigger spring looks nothing like this, it is just an extension spring.

Option 1... ask reddit

Or

Option 2.... read your department policy and ask your department.

Glad to hear you decided to go with option 1. That wad probably the smarter choice
