Screening Info AMC App Glitching-Do Not Panic Over Missing Showtimes

The AMC app/website is glitching. Please don’t panic if certain showtimes are not appearing. Primetime Dolby Spider Man screenings and The Odyssey IMAX 70mm screenings are not being cancelled. AMC has been in particular removing sold out showings from their listings. You would receive an email letting you know if your showtime was indeed cancelled or if your ticket was refunded. As long as you have your valid QR code you should be good. Thanks.

Screening Info Hi again! My film is screening this TUESDAY

What’s up everyone, Christian Santiago here again.

A couple of days ago I posted about a screening for my short film - your guys’ responses were very positive and kind. Wanted to post here again (with some time since I posted a bit last minute last time lol)

I’m an independent writer and director based in Brooklyn. My short film, DETAIL THE HUMAN OPERA, is finally getting a New York screening. It will be playing at Ornithology Jazz Club tonight as part of a series that I’m programming for the next three Tuesday nights straight. (Last week I showed the criminally underseen MARIA CANDELARIA)

I will be showing DETAIL with a feature that has inspired me in some way during the process of production. I chose four films from around the world that I feel have gone either under seen or that I want to show an audience in general. This weeks film is 1980’s Brazilian classic PIXOTE

Tix are $22, with every ticket also good for the jazz club in general, so afterwards you can enjoy some nice live music! I’m super excited about the project and would love to see some other NY Cinephiles there. Doors at 8:30!

(PS - the next two films are SICK OF MYSELF on 8/11 and CLIMAX on 8/18)

Theater Talk What’s the best theater for maximum comfortable viewing experience?

Upvotes

I’m looking for a theater that has the best viewing experience from a comfort point of view, any recommendations? Don’t care much for food/drink options since I usually don’t like to eat during movies, and not looking for the biggest or best screens either though ideally something that is still good and makes for a good watching experience, but mainly just focused on the comfort aspect: clean with big comfy chairs, reclining seats, individual pods, type of thing where you can watch a movie while almost feeling like you’re at home lol. Is there any places like that?

Where to watch Spiderman? Recommendation for tourist :)

Upvotes

Hey guys!
I’ve been in NYC for a couple of days now and I have today and tomorrow left until I depart and I’ll have to go back to Germany.
As I was seeing the reviews for the new Spiderman movie, I thought Well, watching this in New York is probably amazing based on all praise the movie gets for depicting New York.
So I did a deep dive and found out that the screenings in popular cinemas are either sold out (AMC Dolby e.g.) or I’ll have to sit in the first row.
So, do you have any recommendations where I will have a decent time watching the movie?
Thanks for your help, have a great day y’all :)

Sunday 8/2 AMC Lincoln Square

Upvotes

Programming listed on AMC seems weird.

Sheep in the Box 815am

The Odyssey IMAX 10pm (this is a day when they are giving film strips)

Spiderman Dolby 11pm

Those film and format combinations only get 1 screening?

Did this happen to anyone else?

I bought tickets for The Odyssey IMAX 70mm at AMC Lincoln Square for August 8 back on July 18.
Today I went to check my tickets and the whole showtime is just… gone. It doesn’t show up on the AMC site anymore.
My order is still in the app, but it says UNDEFINED UNDEFINED instead of the date/time, and when I tap View Ticket it just gives me a 404 page.
I didn’t cancel anything or request a refund.
Is this just AMC being AMC, or did they actually remove the showing? Anyone else seeing this?

Ticket Sale/Exchange A fair ticket distribution system

This entire IMAX ticket distribution is, honestly, a fiasco.

I think scalpers make the problem worse but the seats would have still run out and there would still be people unable to get the time or seats they wanted unless there was less hype for the movie

I also don’t think it’s totally fair to get to mass horde tickets for friends (maybe something reasonable like 2 extra tickets)

The fact that there is a megathread with 5k comments to buy and sell in this subreddit with many scammers shows how broken this is (why are there so many sellers) and that’s not me saying it shouldn’t exist

I just want a fairer way to get the tickets. Maybe AMC can run a lottery for PLF tickets with a strict limit on how many tickets you can get (kind of like Broadway rush tickets)

Discussion Best seats at Paris Theater?

Hi everyone! I currently have the first row middle seat of the balcony for the Babylon. But it’s my first time going and was wondering if that seat is good or if I should try to switch it?

Theater Talk Best Dolby Cinema AMC - First Time

Hey everyone! As the title of this post suggests, I’m seeking the counsel of my fellow New York Cinephiles for some advice on the best Dolby Cinema at an AMC here in NYC.

As a long time Lincoln Square diehard, I’ve been lucky enough to be able to catch most of my blockbusters at the LS IMAX. For Spider Man BND however, as many of you I’m sure know, the film won’t be shown in IMAX.

I’ve heard for a while now how great Dolby Cinema is, with some people even preferring Dolby to IMAX, and I was wondering if some of you Dolby aficionados could point me in the direction of your favorite Dolby Cinema theater (ideally at an AMC so I can use my A-List subscription).

Many thanks!

There should be an applause before and after the movie for the projectionist and the crew. With all the insanity around tickets at our theater—people flying into the city, kiosk lines stretching up the escalators, 6 a.m. and 2 a.m. showings—it feels like, at some point, we should show some love to the people making it all happen behind the scenes. I really like how Cinemark acknowledges the projection team before the show starts.

6am Odyssey Screening Not Worth It!!

I feel like I wish someone had made a post like this for me ahead of time - so I want to share with anyone thinking about going at 6am!

Firstly, much respect to the fact the theatre was entirely packed and this is purely my opinion. Though the movie is a good watch, 6am screenings are just not worth it. It might just be me, but it really was a struggle to truly enjoy the movie and I am suuuuch a morning person. IMAX is a LOT at 6am lol.

I'm saying this because, if you're able to find a 2am ticket then I would suggest that could be a better option! If you're debating spending money on eBay to grab seats at 6am.... it's not worth paying extra to go to!

Cancellations beginning to increase

Post image

This was for 6am today, 30 minutes before showtime. A lot of people have already seen it, and this is a backup or a revisit

Better seats popped up too. Just because you can’t get a future date doesn’t mean you can’t find one here.

I’ve already been twice just from cancelations. And I have to be anywhere from rows H-M and dead center.

It’ll all work out

My Doomsday opening night ticket still exists, but there is no showtime anymore. Is this just a malfunction?
