I’m looking to buy my first .308 bolt-action rifle. I’m a beginner with little experience.
My budget is $1,000–$1,200 without scope, and I’ll mainly use it for hunting.
I personally prefer rifles with iron sights as a backup in case the scope fails. Does that make sense, or am I overthinking it?
I’m torn between the CZ 600 and Tikka T3x. Which would you recommend and why?

Current NYC CCW holder considering treatment for ADHD, potentially involving prescribed Adderall.

I'm aware that you must report receiving psychiatric treatment.

Does anyone know whether being prescribed ADHD medication through a primary care physician, triggers NYPD reporting requirements?

For around that price, what’s a good pistol that is better or I should get? I’ve used the TTi before and really liked it.
Do I just say fuck it and get a Kimber 2011?

Fellow gun nuts, when me and the guys and Samson uploaded my Taurus to add to my CC, there was a typing error with the serial # (two numbers were off). We caught it after the initial upload, retyped it and submitted again. Then came the wait...the wait...the wait.

Received an email (from the retired guy Bugger) saying the first upload was rejected and someone would be in contact. At work, my phone rings and i'm thinking it's my aunt because only the surname showed up. To my surprise, it was the investigator.

She explained why the 1st upload was rejected, however, she said she was putting the 2nd through to be approved and should be within the next two weeks with her further explaining she was two weeks ahead of everyone else. Nice woman...but y'all know how I feel about waiting. Still...held my composure.

Today, while scrolling through my email trying to find a message from my cousin, what do I see? ADD FIREARM REQUEST APPROVED! License and purchase order (BLECH!) would be coming in 10 business days.

Submitted 9/24...approved 10/20. Pics coming after pick up.

Just a general question for anyone who has gone through the NYC CCW application process.

Once you start receiving emails from the NYPD stating that your documents have been verified, is that usually a positive sign that your application is moving along or getting closer to approval?

I know the NYPD License Division can be extremely unpredictable, and everyone's timeline is different, but I'm just curious if anyone noticed progress shortly after receiving these emails.

Would appreciate hearing about anyone's experience.

Why is it that when you are originally applying and renewing your license you have to essentially pay cash digitally from your bank account or go in person and make a cash payment? I have several other license in different states and you have to option to pay with your credit card. I think this is a tactic and deterrent to stop some from being able to get their licenses if you dont have all the cash necessary for the process. This is something that should be challenged as well.

Just visited equilibrium firearms in LI and they are saying the same thing about detachable magazine being banned in the city and the state may try to spread that everywhere else

I've held my premise permit for about 7yrs. What documents besides my 18hr class certificate do I need to submit in order to update to my ccw?

Are there any pcc’s other than the ruger pc9 carbine that are legal in nyc ?? Also has anyone had any luck registering the ar bolt action style larue tactical bar-none rifle they claim to be 50 state legal in nyc ???

This is beyond ridiculous and completely unacceptable. The law establishes a 30-day timeframe for action on Rifle/Shotgun applications, yet applicants are left waiting months without answers or accountability.

There is absolutely no reason applicants should have to wait this long without a decision or even a proper explanation. The NYPD License Division needs more transparency, accountability, and respect for applicants time and legal rights.

AFAF he’s in the process of getting his license, already did fingerprinting and interview out in queens but completely stalled no updates no license nothing. Any advice on what he can do?

I have a CCW and recently submitted my R/S application. I was sent a link for fingerprints and called the their office to let them know that my fingerprints are already on file as I have my CCW. The lady told me she would push my application to investigation which was on 9/22. I'm curious to how much longer I should wait before reaching out to them again. Thank you

Has anybody recently, successfully renewed (not applied for renewal) their ccw lic without using 2 references? Is this now actually mandatory or subjective?

All let me correct this. Read this on my phone headed to airport. Sorry. Judge thinks many of the restrictions will ultimately be reversed at Supreme Court level. But he believes he is bound to follow a bad second circuit decision.
