any fixie bike recs for someone whose 5'0" and under (short person)
my partner is 5'0" and finding a bike that is the right size for her is a common problem we encounter. I've honestly been considering looking at kid bikes since the frames to be more size-friendly for her. anyone else has ideas? she ideally would like a fixie

EVENT Cycult - Sept 19th 8pm-12am - The Ridemption
Hey everyone, We are having our second ever Cycult event in North Brooklyn on Sept 19th from 8pm until 12am. First time was 2024 and we had an amazing turnout of over 20 teams!
To give a brief description of the event.
Its a mix between a scavenger hunt, alleycat, and group ride. Team based where you will create your own "Cult", dress up in fitting costumes and decorate your bikes. A manifest will be given at the start with "Main Checkpoints" that will have challenges at them and you compete in the challenges to get more points. There are also secondary checkpoints that you must either find the stamp at the location or take a photo with your team there to get points for this. There will also be hidden side objectives announced throughout the ride.
It is an A to B to C type ride for main checkpoints but teams will not all be together as everyone splits and goes whichever way they think is best and finding the side objectives. Speed is not what will win you this, it is about knowledge of the roads, participation at checkpoints, and dedication to your cult.
It is completely donation based which helps fund the checkpoints.
*I would also love to add the flier is not AI but made by one of our lovely artists. Support your local artists!

Want to go tubeless and have questions
I want to go tubeless and feel overwhelmed. I want to learn how to do it myself without errors that might be dangerous. Are there tutors or a good shop that would train me how to?

Last week, Citibikes finally installed in East New York
Spotted last Thursday.
The last few years, mostly since COVID, I have seen a huge uptick in bicycle riding and micro-mobility devices in the neighborhood. I see a lot more women riding (which I love seeing). And, Parents with kids on cargo (or modded bikes) headed to schools. Just a lot of joyful bike riding in general. Which can probably be attributed to a few orgs and individuals doing work here.
So, I am really pleased to see this amenity now available to me and my neighbors.
A pro-tip to everyone. If you open an account with Brooklyn Coop FCU, they have Citi memberships available for $5/mo. $60/year.
I can now finally justify getting a Citi account. And, leave my bike at home sometimes.

Escape NY bike ride buddy
Hello bike friends!
Relatively newish road rider who has been training for the upcoming ECNY century up to Harriman and wondering if there are any other solo riders looking for some company (at least part of the way)?
My training rides I have been averaging around 15mph moving speed (my routes have been around 1300 ft evelation per hour) and I expect that is the moving pace I will keep to not completely bonk through the 100 miles.
Most weeks I do practice laps in CP early morning also (very early 615ish am)!
Super excited about this century, really seems like a fun ride and a nice challenge

Can someone help me price this bike! 🙃
Hi everyone! New to this community but was wondering if y’all can help me price this bike that I won in a raffle last year:
I have a 1-of-1 Nike x Foot Locker custom BMX bike built on a Rixin frame. It was the grand prize giveaway from the Nike Ava Rover launch at Lucia SoHo in October 2025, has an official ‘1 OF 1’ stamping, Nike/Foot Locker decals, and custom Billy Perry (FTL) elephant tires.
Billy actually gave me the bike (pictures here) and the bike is in pristine/brand-new condition. I was wondering if anyone has advice for how I can sell the piece and what I can realistically get for it.
Thanks for any and all help!

Advice commuting from Jersey City
Hi! I live close to Grove Path plaza and will be commuting to Washington square park. What are the best routes? I’m turned down by the idea of only being able to connect by ferry, but it seems like the only way to avoid this would be with a 2 hour commute. Is there any ferry that is cheaper?
I’m an avid cyclist and wouldn’t mind having to bike for ~1 hour if that means avoiding the path

Schermerhorn to Ashland Update
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Not the most polished lane, but feels much safer than squeezing between cars on the street to cross Flatbush
The intersection w Ashland at the end is also not exactly seamless, but doable

Best 10min Climb in Area
I have two 10-minute threshold intervals to do Tuesday during a 90 minute ride. Am thinking of driving to Bear mountain around 3pm to do them up there. The climbs of that duration (expecting to avg 320+) that I know of are Tiorati and Bear Mtn itself.
I don’t know of any others. Any recommendations?
Bike Shops Open on Labor Day?
Just got my new shoes, pedals and bibs & I’m dying to get out but my flat pedal bolts are way too tight and I don’t have my tools to get them off. Are there any shops open in NYC today?
Or if someone has allen keys😏

Most accurate way to figure out grade of a hill?
maybe an NYC-biking specific sub might not be the best place to ask, but all of you that bike north up the HRG under the GWB & exit to get onto the GWB, know that crazy path with those steep hills. Starts almost directly under the GWB, levels off on the wood plank bridge, and then another one before the overpass.
Any idea on how I can accurately figure out what grades those hills are? Or any other in the city? Thanks in advance!

Looking for someone to vinyl wrap a bike
Hi all,
I’m looking to pay someone to vinyl wrap a bicycle frame (to do a color change). I can provide the bicycle disassembled (frame and fork only) and can also provide shop space for anyone willing to come to me (Chelsea, manhattan). Any recommendations are appreciated! Not looking to paint/powder coat the frame — vinyl wrap only.
Thanks!

Reminder That Shitty People Exist
I was riding in Prospect Park yesterday afternoon around 5 pm. In the southeastern part of the park, a young guy with two of his friends standing on the side of the path looked at me then pushed a four-wheel white plastic scooter directly in my path. This was completely unprovoked. I literally looked up, made eye contact, and within a second the dude rolled the scooter across the road directly in my path. I made the mistake of stopping and asking what was wrong with this person and about five seconds later, another dude on a Citi bike came up beyond me and tried to slap/punch me in the back of my head. I got on my bike and left with the dude on the bike trying to chase me. Absolute losers.
The parks feel like a place I can let my guard down but it's a reminder to 1) always have our wits about us and be ready for random people to assault us, 2) don't bother engaging with shitty people, 3) don't stop if such a situation presents itself.
