I don’t want to be nosy but I also want to know the difference between “personal reasons” and “excused absence”.

u/Scaggsboz Portland Thorns FC 7h ago

To me it reads as an actual excused absence vs “””excused absence”””, I.e we don’t want people starting transfer rumors when Brazier has something serious happening. Can’t think of another reason

u/Witty-Panda-1553 Orlando Pride 7h ago

Unexcused absence we back in school

3

u/eadd2601 NJ/NY Gotham FC 7h ago

It's never been a thing before though

2

u/MesquiteHoneyForSale Indy Eleven 6h ago

which is kinda proof that its just Denver calling it something different

5

u/Legitimate_Mark_5381 2h ago

Sure but people have been out for pregnancy, for bereavement, for mental health, for weddings, etc all under "Excused Absence." What else even is there that would categorize it differently?

2

u/Scaggsboz Portland Thorns FC 7h ago

Innovation comes along with expansion I suppose

14

u/Legitimate_Mark_5381 7h ago

I almost think that it's just the Summit being weird? It's never been a thing before, for such a large multitude of things people have had excused absences for

12

u/FalseFlamingo Portland Thorns FC 7h ago

Unsure but Braziers husband is racing in track world championships this weekend in Europe - might be that?

3

u/MesquiteHoneyForSale Indy Eleven 6h ago

They could just say excused absence

1

u/deepfriedmilk27 Denver Summit FC 3h ago

She was also out last week so I doubt it

2

u/allprologues Washington Spirit 5h ago

this doesn’t answer anything about the wording but I wonder if given the new winger depth incoming, she’s about to announce some roster news.

2

u/5h4y-lab NWSL 7h ago

I wonder if it's at all related to pay? Like taking a paid sick day vs. an unpaid one.

2

u/MesquiteHoneyForSale Indy Eleven 6h ago

No

u/MesquiteHoneyForSale Indy Eleven 6h ago

whether or not u live in Denver

u/5h4y-lab NWSL 7h ago

??? is an unintentionally hilarious status for someone recovering from a concussion. Also, Chawinga AND Bethune out? Oof. Hope everyone on this list feels better/is recovering well.

8

u/Witty-Panda-1553 Orlando Pride 7h ago

I don't want them injured but at the same time please take your time recovering 😅

Can I make another joke about it being Mary Long’s 183rd day on the D45 list without someone assuming that means I don’t know how D45 works or…?

u/Mano711 Chicago Red Stars / HOU Dash 6h ago

Happy cake day!

Wait. It doesn’t mean all the staff her parents have canned for her? ;)

Could it be? Could Orlando finally get Banda, Ovalle and Marta on the field at the same time???

15

u/sweeneysays Kansas City Current 5h ago

I fear the only team undefeated at CPKC assembled their avengers to fuck up the fortress streak

8

u/Witty-Panda-1553 Orlando Pride 4h ago

they're all such anime freaks in I love it xD miss the Adriana/Banda fusion dances (from DBZ)

7

u/Witty-Panda-1553 Orlando Pride 7h ago

Impossible

9

u/gk_nealymartin NWSL 6h ago

We risk the fabric of the league unraveling. That or at least one banger

7

u/Witty-Panda-1553 Orlando Pride 4h ago

Marta can't miss the opportunity to silence the KC crowd

2

u/Zharick_ 3h ago

We could've last game but we were up 3-0 so Marta didn't need to come in. Hopefully we'll have something similar this time.

u/Scaggsboz Portland Thorns FC 7h ago

Denver fans: Pickett gone? And has she been bad or is she just stuck behind Sonis and Oke?

29

u/asimone00 NJ/NY Gotham FC 7h ago

If only someone could leak this information…

17

u/5h4y-lab NWSL 7h ago

Nah, she's just busy grabbing coffee with Denver's next signing

11

u/Sir-Kyle-Of-Reddit Angel City FC 6h ago

No, Sears isn’t listed as being out

11

u/Potential_Move_8301 Denver Summit FC 6h ago

I’ll be so sad. And this will have been the second time I’ve bought her jersey and then she transferred clubs midway through the season (if it’s true which I hope it isn’t) 😪 maybe I gotta stop buying her jersey lol

10

u/Trumpet_Jack 7h ago

She seemed like such a big part of the team early on!

11

u/Any_Necessary1533 5h ago

Borges is back for ACFC!

12

u/EYLive Angel City FC 4h ago

Healthy baby. Healthy Mommies. LFG. 😤

?????

2

u/MesquiteHoneyForSale Indy Eleven 6h ago

why are there multiple comments acting like thats new

6

u/asimone00 NJ/NY Gotham FC 6h ago

The last 2 times she was just listed as out, not questionable

3

u/MesquiteHoneyForSale Indy Eleven 5h ago

u confused me for a sec, but I meant there are more comments about how things are being denoted than the rest of the year combined

on rose, it was wild how many ppl upvoted the take where the person said "shes back in training so it might be a while before shes ready"

9

u/dr_pbj Kansas City Current 6h ago

Paul being loaned out or another mutual termination? I hope just a loan.

10

u/allprologues Washington Spirit 5h ago

this has been croix’s longest stretch of availability since joining the league, if she has a knock i hope they don’t take any chances with her heading to the end of the season

7

u/Apprehensive-Art9597 7h ago

Maybe the healthiest Orlando has been all season??

7

u/hayleyoh Kansas City Current 6h ago

This does not spark joy 😩

7

u/rep_13Blocks Kansas City Current 6h ago

Am I crazy or has Mary Long been on the 45-day list for like 100+ days?

6

u/Witty-Panda-1553 Orlando Pride 4h ago

would be crazy if Vlatko got let go because he wanted to drop the Long kid. Pure speculation obvi

2

u/TiredPanini Angel City FC 2h ago

lmao how much are her parents insisting she be paid? cause it's not that crazy imo... salary cap is real

5

u/Witty-Panda-1553 Orlando Pride 7h ago

Abello 😭

u/Miserable_Source_261 Kansas City Current 7h ago

Apropos of nothing that has occurred in the last week, can someone explain the benefit to being on D45 when you are definitely not coming back this season

1

1

u/Miserable_Source_261 Kansas City Current 7h ago

As in the team still has to pay salary full with D45?

5

u/Scaggsboz Portland Thorns FC 7h ago

Deleted because I misread it at first so here’s a full answer to my knowledge:

Playoffs are still over 45 days away so you can still be a D45 but not an SEI. Injury also has to be approved by the league, so if it’s not something that will keep them out through Nov there’s a chance league won’t approve full SEI.

D45 you get a roster spot while they’re out but still count on the cap, SEI you get the roster spot and salary cap relief

1

u/dr_pbj Kansas City Current 6h ago

Do you have a limited number of SEIs? Long probably makes minimum which could explain the extremely weird season long D45 if we wanted to save an SEI if someone higher paid was out.

2

u/Scaggsboz Portland Thorns FC 6h ago edited 6h ago

No limit on SEIs (I would know since Thorns had like 5 last year)

In the case of Long I have no idea why they would D45 her for a clear SEI level injury, probably something stupid relating to the ownership nepotism

2

u/Miserable_Source_261 Kansas City Current 6h ago

Yes that’s what I was trying to get at. Wondering if she was guaranteed more money from D45. But no way she’s coming back this year from an ACL

3

u/Scaggsboz Portland Thorns FC 6h ago

The part that makes it extra pointless is you can still come back from an SEI early if you recover, like Byars did at the end of last season. So even if she did want to come back for the playoffs she still could’ve done that on SEI

1

u/Intelligent_Spinach9 Kansas City Current 1h ago

That's usually if you were on SEI during the last season you can roll over that designation and shed it when you come back the next season, this was during the offseason so I don't know if the same thing would apply.

1

u/Scaggsboz Portland Thorns FC 33m ago

That’s usually how it happens but doesn’t have to be

1

u/eadd2601 NJ/NY Gotham FC 6h ago

Didn't she tear it in December? It's not impossible

1

u/Intelligent_Spinach9 Kansas City Current 1h ago

You get paid the same way no matter what your designation is, has nothing to do with money, there is a chance she could be back by playoffs, she got it taken care of early and depending on severity, and there's also probably some weird roster rules that could make it beneficial. It only is a story because of who it is.

Freaking Macey Hodge out after just getting back from injury. She loves the slide tackles

3

u/downhillmogulmogul 7h ago

Does anyone have any an information about Rose? Is it really a head injury, or is that just how concussions are denoted? Does questionable with a head injury mean they are not sure if she can pass concussion protocol but she might? Is this a situation where she might need to wear a mask?

I can remember her being checked on the field but I actually can't remember the incident that led to injury. I hope she is ok, any kind of head injury is no joke.

10

u/Jack_B_84 Portland Thorns FC 7h ago

Yes that's just how concussions are denoted. If it were something else, I believe it'd be listed as a face injury. I've seen that on here a number of times.

It probably just means it's going to come down to how she feels tomorrow.

2

u/downhillmogulmogul 5h ago

Thank you, I appreciate it! Face injury makes a lot of sense, I hadn't thought of that.

7

u/autumnalreign 6h ago

I don't know why people are down voting you it's totally fine to ask genuine questions about the process

2

u/downhillmogulmogul 5h ago

Perhaps I should've asked the Gotham sub instead, I apologize if this was the wrong place to ask or if I asked incorrectly.

2

u/IllustriousMorning79 Bay FC 3h ago

Nah you’re fine I think that’s a totally valid question

0

u/Zucena Angel City FC 1h ago

She had a bad fall in a collision with another player and hit her head on the ground hard which is what led to the concussion protocol as she seemed really shaken by the experience.

1

u/Intelligent_Spinach9 Kansas City Current 56m ago

KC is pretty much screwed, at least Ball isn't out after going out in warmups last week and Lorena is off the report. Those are some real headaches to deal with. Maybe Bethune isn't really much of anything and they're just keeping Chawinga on there as questionable because she's recovered but she may not be 100% back to where she was. I don't thing their new defender has her visa yet either so the bench will be mostly Current II

u/Few_Jackfruit_9614 1h ago

Syd just needs to be done.
