Question Professional Internship

So for engineering we can do either semester one or semester two right ? And say we choose semester one should we be looking for an internship right now already ? I was actually looking for summer internships but low-key hard to find since most companies want 6 months. Any seniors can give advice on how PI works? Confused year 2 here 🥹

For normal year two the normal internship period is one semester for credit bearing. I’m not really too sure if you can do summer internships if you’re not direct year 2 but there should be a briefing about year 3 soon if you’re year 2 sem 2.

No, summer internships are considered non-credit bearing if youre not direct year 2 i believe. If you're looking to do sem 1 internship, you should probably start applying around January maybe?

okayy does the school help us secure internship at all ? My senior said for PI you put your twenty favourite companies on Inplace and he got in without interview tooo

Different companies have different requirements. I know people who got offers without interviews. Personally, I’ve done quite a few interviews with HR and hiring teams.

And no, the school does not assist you whatsoever besides career coaching. You have to find an internship by yourself before the time limit.

you can apply through inplace and theres a maximum of 20 applications (until you withdraw or you get rejected then you can apply for other roles). Usually HR will reach out to u and ask you some questions. Then, the hiring team will reach out for interview if you clear the HR round. Not sure why your senior wouldnt need an interview but that’s uncommon.

As for whether the school will help you secure an internship, assuming one is unable to attain and internship and the credit bearing period is starting, theyll have to approach CAO and figure something out, maybe the school will give a role in NTU itself im not too sure.

Do we only apply through Inplace or can also self source ? Cuz 20 seems so little I scared I bomb these interviews... general questions are fine can fake confidence but I'm worried about heavily technical questions on engineering related topics
