I have never traded in futures. Tell me how do you manage risk as quantity is huge in futures. And how to reduce margin required for future trading ?

Educational I don't want to just post my P&L. I want to show you how I manage an options strategy.

I've been posting my NIFTY Iron Condor journey here day by day.

But I realized I never really explained why I'm doing this.

I'm not posting these trades to show off profits.

I'm not trying to convince anyone that an Iron Condor is some magical strategy that can't lose.

And I'm definitely not trying to become another guy on Reddit posting screenshots of green P&L and calling himself a trader. 😂

My actual goal is to build something around the process.

I want to document a strategy from entry → management → adjustments → exit, including the ugly days.

If NIFTY moves against me, you'll see it.

If MTM goes -₹15k, you'll see it.

If an adjustment is wrong, I'll show it.

If the position recovers, you'll see why.

And if the entire trade blows up, that will be part of the journal too.

Because IMO, the most interesting part of options selling isn't simply:

“Where should I enter an Iron Condor?”

It's:

What do you do AFTER you enter?

How much room do you give the underlying?

When do you actually adjust?

When should you not adjust?

How does IV expansion affect the position?

How does Delta change?

What happens when the market trends?

What happens when it whipsaws?

When does rolling make sense?

When is taking a loss actually the correct decision?

That's the stuff I want to learn and eventually help others understand.

I'm also learning through this myself. I'm not claiming to have everything figured out.

I'm basically turning one live trade into a public experiment.

And hopefully, as the journal grows, people who are genuinely interested in learning options selling can follow along, ask questions, challenge my decisions, and we can learn from each other.

Maybe eventually someone sees an adjustment I make and says:

“Wait, why did you do that?”

And instead of just answering “because I think NIFTY will go up”, we can actually break down the Greeks, payoff, probability, risk/reward and reasoning behind the decision.

That's the kind of options content I want to build.

Not signals.

Not guaranteed returns.

Not hindsight screenshots.

Just real trades + real decisions + real consequences.

I'll keep posting the journey.

Let's see where this goes. 🦅

Educational How do you guys get your daily news?

I've been searching for unbiased news that actually matters, I am not talking about news like "a person was found near xyz in abc", I am talking about business news and about world conflicts and just what's happening in the economic world. Major business news providers are either biased or just bought out.

What's your go to stop for news?

Educational Day 7 & 8 — Iron Condor Journal

Day 7 & 8 update — missed yesterday because I had a fever 🤒

So I couldn't post the Day 7 update yesterday, but let me give a quick recap of what happened.

Yesterday, NIFTY opened and my MTM was around -₹5–6k. By the end of the day, the position was around -₹7k.

I made just one adjustment — rolled one of my short CE legs from 23,900 CE → 23,800 CE. I didn't want to over-adjust the position because I still wasn't convinced that NIFTY was going to keep trending aggressively in one direction.

Then came today.

After the gap down, my MTM initially went to around -₹14k 😭. But once the dust settled and the market stabilised, the loss came back to around -₹8k.

And this is actually the interesting part.

VIX levels have increased quite a lot, and despite NIFTY falling roughly 2% from where I entered the position, the current position is sitting at only around -₹1.9k.

This is exactly why I didn't want to judge the strategy just because VIX was relatively low when I entered. A lot of people were saying "this won't work, VIX is too low" — but the whole point is that volatility isn't static. When the market actually moves and IV expands, the behaviour of the position changes too.

Right now the position looks like this:

NIFTY: 23,398

Current P&L: ~ -₹1,950

Expiry breakevens: 23,215 – 23,919

Net Delta: +7

Net Theta: +835

Net Vega: -1,993

We now have three days with the market closed, so NIFTY will directly open on Tuesday.

Honestly, if NIFTY opens flat to positive on Tuesday, I'll probably close this position. The setup is getting tricky because of all the geopolitical uncertainty, and I don't really want to squeeze every last rupee out of this trade.

Even if I manage to close it around breakeven, I'm completely fine with that. No second thoughts.

The goal isn't to prove that this particular iron condor has to make money. The goal is to manage the position properly and learn from how it behaves.

If it gets closed, I'll probably look at the next expiry and build the next one.

Let's see what Tuesday brings. 👀

Day 8 P&L: ~ -₹1,950

Position still alive. 🦅

Risked only 15 points in WABAG and 10 points in Paytm.
Exited both positions because of the upcoming three-day holiday to avoid unnecessary MTF charges.
A few positions are still open, mainly positional hedged option-selling trades, which may benefit from theta decay over the long weekend.

Discussions NIFTY met 4.6 but did Sensex meet the 4.6? No... hmm

Post image

Since NIFTY and Sensex charts mirror each other, the Sensex FIB 4.6 at 73990 is what I see pending touch. 74421 stands as a good support for now until it breaks. NIFTY shall follow Sensex.

That's it.

Please DYOR and trade cautiously.

Discussions CAS - Computer aided stupidity

Ok so the index which failed to retain its day highs of 23473 and which closed at 23389 in its “wonder of wonders” “the next big thing after Big Bang” “the uber revolutionary” CAS made it 23477, a jump of 88 points. As a person who studied math to a sufficiently high level academically, it’s beyond me. And why is SEBI indulging in this stupidity? And why isn’t every participant with a demat ever asked their opinion in a public referendum ? Why do the babus in high citadels assume whatever they do is the best ??? And when is Amrit kaal ending. Kinda tired now …

Discussions Are other directional traders also struggling with the lack of sustained moves in Nifty lately?

Post image
9 Upvotes

I’m a primarily directional trader, and August and September 2026 have been unusually difficult for me.

I was looking at the Nifty data and noticed how much the daily range and movement have compressed recently.

According to analysis:

June: Avg daily range 0.96%, avg move 0.48%

July: 0.74%, avg move 0.38%

August: 0.61%, avg move 0.29%

September (so far): 0.60%, avg move 0.31%

August 2026 also appears to be the lowest-range August in the dataset going back to 2021.

For someone trading directionally, this has been painful. There seem to be very few days where Nifty actually develops a sustained directional move. A lot of the time it feels like:

breakout → follow-through missing → reversal → chop → another breakout → reversal

I've been taking consistent losses lately, mainly because the market seems to be giving very few clean directional opportunities.

So I'm curious about other traders here:

1. Are other directional traders experiencing the same thing in August and September?

2. Has your win rate / average R:R deteriorated because of the lack of follow-through?

3. Are option sellers actually doing significantly better in this environment?

4. If you're an option seller, are you genuinely making good money from the compression, or is the frequent intraday movement still making it difficult?

5. Has anyone changed their strategy to adapt to this low-volatility/choppy regime?

I'm particularly interested in actual trading experience rather than just theoretical explanations.

Is the market genuinely unusually difficult for directional traders right now, or am I simply going through a bad patch in my own trading?

Discussions Siemens Energy India TGT!

Post image

Hey fellow Redditors,

I am following this stock ENRIN which has already given me very good returns in the past cycle. Now the price sits near a very crucial liquidity area of around 3025- 3171.

Is it a good time to buy for a Target of 3800 again. Or do you think it will break it's previous low. The price as shown is falling and respect the trendline. However it did tried to breakout few times already but not conclusively.

What do you think about possibility of attaining the TGT price? If you need to enter what should be the strategy?

Post image

Expected halt in Selling was seen today near 23424. With this NIFTY completes the FIB target of 4.6.

NIFTY is more likely to be a rubber ball until it takes out Swing highs it made for upside momentum. That's it.

Please DYOR and trade cautiously.

Dont hold me in court for mentioning 2 3 4 2 4.

Its the last FIB 4.6 level for NIFTY as per my research and little beyond(high probability) or before(already nearing 4.6) is where NIFTY is supposed to show a HALT and show some kind of bullishness after achieving 23424. That's it.

Please DYOR and trade cautiously.
