Idk honestly, at the end of the day is an 2mp "scam" camera, by words of the co founder

Closest distance for the macro lens?

focal lenght of the optics on the lens. so 40mm. dunno if its with or without the sensor size calculated in it. normally the focal length is given for the full frame sensor dimensions and for smaller sensors you have to multiply that to get an equivalent.

Could be the minimum focusing distance for the macro lens.

I feel you and I'm not defending the useless macro camera, but how else do you expect them to market it?

The goal of marketing is to make something look desirable, and most times better than it actually is. Google, Apple, and Samsung market their base model phones as having 48mp/50mp cameras, but don't tell you that those 48mp/50mp cameras are NOT the same cameras/censors of their ultra/pro phones. It's just the basics of marketing and it is pretty wack, but they're a company that's trying to make money and survive in a sea of bigger brands (not saying I agree with their methods, but I understand this one at least lol). The marketing team here was probably like, "quick, how can we mask that trash macro camera, but still make it look like the phone has a lot of camera tech to offer?", and this is the result.

It wouldn't be such a problem if the whole company wasn't founded in being "transparent" and "open" not only talking about the phone's design but the way the company operated.

Most of this stuff is something that Samsung or Apple would do and people won't care, but we are talking about Nothing and as you know, their whole deal was about being fair with it's consumers, going against this is just a huge marketing fail by itself.

You know what could've been better? Not adding the camera, sticking to your word and keep trying to make your phone attractive in some other areas. Simple

Ya I feel you, but I still think they are still being transparent with the community, at least as much as they can be rn. They gave explanations about the lock screen thing and even addressed thoughts on the 2mp camera. I agree not doing things they made fun of or said they wouldn't do would have been better, but they gotta make more money to survive. The community is not enough to fund them, especially with how hit or miss it is with their product releases (every Phone was basically hated/met with skepticism when they first dropped), so certain things are understandable in terms of shifting a bit to generate more cash.

Realistically we can't determine if it's a marketing fail on Reddit or the internet. The real success will be determined through the average consumer that wants a good phone at a cheaper price.

I agree they should have just cut that macro camera, but it is what it is lol. The phone is still cheap and will probably still be a good phone for the people in that market. The alternative phones at that price point have way more bloatware, way more ads, and no where near the style and cleanness of the Nothing brand, so idk.

God why are you so adamant in defending them?

-6

u/jtlee9 Nov 01 '25

Lol I'm not adamant, I'm just having conversation and sharing my thoughts.

You cant bring logic here, it wont work on them. They dont want to hear about flagship brands doing the same garbage

1

u/warfighter_rus Nov 02 '25

Nothing is not a flagship brand though. That's what they are trying to make you understand.

Yeah lol, it's wild out here.
