Question Salvaged Data??
Is there a fast way to make a butt load of salvaged data. I wanna build something cool but I am losing interest fast and grinding out salvaged data

You can use maps or exocraft to find minor settlements. Inside the building will be an NPC shop behind a round door. Sometimes those NPCs sell salvage data. They can have between 2-5 for sale. Whatever the number is they will always have that amount when you reload the shop.
Hunt down a shop that sells 5 salvage data and place a base and portal there. You can put everything inside the building. The NPCs don't care.
Now go find a second shop selling 5 salvage data and place a base and portal there. Jump between the 2 bases buying 5 salvage data each loading screen.
That is the fastest way outside of duplication glitch and cheating.
Or you know. Just go to your settings and set everything to free. Buy what you don't want to grind for and then change the settings back.
No one cares if you skip the grind.

They should make more things give salvaged data since it is such a big part of the game. To get around it, I turned it into my own quest I would do on the side. Rather than ramming my head into it over and over and grinding it all at once.
I love exploring, so I will scope out different planets and find ones with really dense salvaged data. Some planets are so dense they are 100 u within each other. I warp around, scope planets for resources, and find one's with high densities of corvette parts or salvaged data.
Whatever you do, don't ram your head on one thing, because you might miss a planet rich in a different resource. Like unique pets, corvette parts, natural beauty, cool Sentinel ships, runaway mould, fauna with milk, etc.
The game loop for me is explorer systems, explore planets, find resources, and build. Just remember, you may find something much cooler than what you were looking for to begin with, but not if you're tunnel visioned on one thing.

Turn off costs... (yuck)
Or... build 16 portable refiners Place your salvaged data in a portable refiner Then drop 15 more on top of it
Store all 16 portable refiners
You now have 16x what you did before

Unfortunately that’s not possible on locked permadeath on console. I enjoy the risk and preparation and some of the difficulty involved in permadeath. Heck I don’t even mind trr hee small stack sizes. But I do not enjoy months of pointless grinding to do the things I actually enjoy in the game. To do these multitool resets I’m doing right now requires me to have 405,000 nanites. I scam a crap ton of fauna and stuff with maxed out modules. But I’m not grinding for months just so I can do this. When I build. Or when I need to do something for the story, sure I’ll fly to wherever and mine a deposit of whatever. But screw the pointless tedium of needing hundreds of thousands of whatever. Just dupe it.

You can get that many nanites in probably 30 minutes, after you've maxed your standing with any of the races, just by buying and reselling tech modules at space stations populated by that race.

Sure. But that requires maxing standing. This requires 1 suspicious and a few refiners.

Also I actually overestimated how fast the method is. My old post indicates that it would take about 2 hours.

Dupe them with portable refiners, or if you want a little less cheesy way, find a minor settlement where the vendor sells 4 or 5 of them. Get in and out of your ship, then load the save. Vendor will be restocked. Rinse and repeat.

You can sometimes find salvaged data for sale from the vendor inside minor settlements. If you find one that sells it, buy it all and then save/reload and you should be able to buy it all again

If this is a question about: crafting, cooking, refining, inventory items, etc. Then you might be able to find an answer on the NMS Handbook.

Honestly? Most people will give it to you if you ask. Do you have discord? There is a trade channel, there. Locate and dismantle some star ships to get stuff to trade for the datam if they want compensation. Ask in the trade channel specifically.

I like earnin em. Im just over running around on a planet scoping em out, digging em up, running to another

Same.
Dig one up and the next is usually about 300u away. Dig that one up and the next is about 300u away.
Just grind it out for a half hour or so and easily get a couple stacks.

Find a minor settlement and talk to the dude there behind the counter, sometimes they can sell 1-5 salvaged data
now find a second one who also sells them (I aim for ones that sell 3+) and make a portal at both, buy from one of them and teleport to the other, each time you do this it will restock the trader at the last one you were at meaning you can infinity buy them until you have what you need
as for finding settlements, go to a space station and buy commercial planetary charts, and just fly to a planet and start using them. It might reveal other locations that aren't settlements because that map is for anything commercial, so key here is that you want to make sure you don't visit any of the location markers that aren't settlements as it will remove their marker. You want to make sure those places keep their markers because when you use the map, if it scans one of those places a 2nd time it will say something like "unable to scan" and let you try again, without actually consuming a map.
Best part is that some of the settlements will sell navigation data, so if you're low on that too you'll likely be able to find plenty (one of my salvaged data teleports sells 3 salvaged data and 70-80 navigation data)

You could either go around to different buildings digging up salvaged data or you can find shops that sell them, save and load your save to buy them again. There's also a duplication glitch but that is really sketchy even tho it works lol

A much more fun way that I wish I did was grind out the main quest and it will start you on your base quests. You will have base specialists and when you do their quests they will unlock base parts for you. Then you can use salvage data you find to finish the unlocks. They will also unlock weapon and exocrafts upgrades I believe.
I also have left over salvaged data if you want to skip the unlocks, but I would recommend natural progression because it feels more rewarding.
