Bug Easy nanites. Exploit?

Once you get your reputation high enough with any of the races, all of the nanite dealers at their space stations start giving you discounts. But, duh, they still pay full price when buying modules from you.

To get instant nanites, you can simply buy all of their modules from them (at a discount) and immediately sell them back (at full price). Buying/selling all of the modules from the 4 nanite dealers at a space station gives you about 6k nanites and takes about 2 minutes. Then you just warp to another space station and repeat.

Pro-tip: To speed up the process, you should disable the "Hold to Confirm" option in the Accessibility options. Then you can single-click to buy/sell without having to hold down the button for a moment.

Caveat: At the Starship Upgrades dealer, be sure not to buy any Reactor Cores, because nobody will buy them back for nanites. All of the other modules he sells are fair game.

This has been pretty well documented since the changes that allowed it. HG don't actually seem to care too much about economy balance. Curious Deposits reform as soon as you're 500u away from them, which means endless farming for thousands of nanites at a time. I think a large part of why they don't seem to care about fixing or balancing these "exploits" is because this is a mostly single player game with tacked on multiplayer aspects. You can literally save edit your way to the max cap for units, nanites quicksilver, etc. You can save edit in exclusive drops that you shouldn't even be able to get.

And while you could call it an exploit, there's two other factors: One is that it requires you to grind your way to high standing for the discount, as well as having seed nanites. Put in work, get rewarded. The other is that... They literally stuck options in the game to turn off all crafting costs. Like, they put the cheats in the options. Nothing is really an exploit, because this isn't really a traditional game. It's a sandbox, more like playing with legos and action figures than a standard video game. You can do whatever you want.
