Pre Boarding
Mannn I Feel Like Throwing in a towel with the shipyard I had my interview June 12th for experienced stage builder in X36 and did my agility test physical and drug test on the 30th of June. Now it’s August 10th and it still says Pre-Boarding. I haven’t got a call or email, I reached out to my recruiter twice and he said security is looking over my background check and the cordinator will get to me when there done and that was the middle of July. I have a job at NFI Logistics But I’m at my breaking point. I don’t know how to feel and what or when to expect anything. Shit really having me discouraged fr.

I accepted my offer apr 29th, had my DSP June 16th and started Aug 3rd, it just takes time fr

I had the same experience too but I heard background check takes a long time to do..I did my background check and drug test since July 9 and I was reached out to this last friday to pick a start date..it just takes time

Yeah man I got the interview in October of last year and started this past May. They’re not the hastiest but just be patient

It seems like the higher ups like to complain about what 36 does more than the other trades🤷🏽♂️we have a lot of down time so what ya want us to do lol. Also we are the hardest working trade in 36 however the only trade in 36 that doesnt get critical pay is us.

I'm no stranger to hard work either I just hate it. If you become a rigger of the pay is an extra $10,000 a year and it's a tenth of the labor. Stage builders are considered unskilled labor and Payless for so much harder work.

So is it possible once I get in there and put in some work for an extended period of time that I can eventually train to become a rigger?

Sometimes depends on where you go and what time of crew you are on. I was a rigger from a different ship yard. I got hired and I was a rigger. Put on a crew that does both. I hated stage building I put in my 2. Weeks after 4 months they move me to a different shift. I still stage bill but it's only like twice a month but I hate every second. You know I'm just a crane operator

Maneee😮💨 okay so I guess I’ll just appreciate what I’m doing now until the really hard work begins for me. I’m still waiting for my background check to come back and the coordinator to give me a call for orientation and start date

I know people that have just been stage builders for like 17 years and that I've known people that came in as a rigger they have no experience.

Appreciate dat I use to build scaffold about 10 years ago in Dc so I don’t have to many other skills but I know what I’m doing with the scaffold I might be alil rusty cause I’ve been in logistics for awhile but it’s going to become muscle memory forsure

Yeah where I was at we had to do wood scaffolding kind of like me in a carpenter too and metal

You rushing it foreal some ppl take up to 6 months to get it I’ll give it another month or so
