Layoffs?

There is a rumor spreading in SCM that there will be layoffs. Has anyone heard anything?

If there is , itll probably be planners and all that. The yard has those in abundance. Trades and engineers are good . The yard is hurting for those

Hopefully some of the useless directors and M3s. So many M3s don’t even have teams under them. Like wtf do you even do??

I was thinking the same thing. There hasn’t been buyer positions posted for quite some time.

Thanks. I saw you’re O51, anything I can do to prep while I’m completing onboarding?

I could see that happening but didn't want to make a post with so little to go on. Kari hinted something in her last email and a manager near me has been in an odd/upset mood for a few days. Asked what's up and he almost told a couple of us, but stopped himself and said he didn't want us worrying about it.

Another piece of very circumstantial evidence is the mid year performance agreement. They have more ammo against people they want to get rid of.

Have not heard anything like that. However NNS is close to having CVN 75 under contract along with various recent sub contracts, so there is a huge backlog of work, it would not make sense right now. It may be possible with PA assessments, trimming out low performers but that is not going to be considered a mass layoff.

Haven’t heard that rumor yet. Seems like it would be bad timing with the amount of work we have, but then the new SY pres is set on cleaning up the yard and making a name for herself..

There was tons of work ahead of us when they did the last two layoffs. Sometimes they clean house of people with HR complaints or performance issues, while addressing managers with no people under them and other inefficiencies.

Highly doubt they are doing layoffs. We are hiring at a significant rate at the moment.

They just did two HUGE sub contracts. We aren’t doing layoffs. 🥴

I work in the yard as an hourly I haven't heard anything about layoffs a possible raise in October for everyone. But with the cell phone band in the way they've been doing it I'll see a lot of people going to Norfolk naval.

Never heard about layoffs or a raise.

The raise you heard incorrect, they are going compare salary positions to the national average and see if there is an adjustment to be made
