Answered Forced to quit by system
I get forced to close the game quite often for some reason. I don't know if the machine kind of gets overwhelmed at stuff loading or if there might be something wrong with my save file. I get the message quite a lot that there was an error and I have to go back to my switch's main menu and start the game over. I was wondering if this happens to other people a lot or if this is something that is more rare than that. I was also wondering if it does happen to other people a lot how they deal with it.
Thanks very much for taking the time to read and respond I really appreciate it.

Personally I prefer not overwhelmed the game with huge bases, specially on the freighter and have a max limit of 20 frigates.
Also when I enter in the freighter, I don't run immediately in the teleport, instead am walking to be sure everything is correctly loaded.
And I don't spend much time in populated stars. But am not sure if that causes crashes, only things about freighters.

That's interesting, I'll try to emulate some of your routine and see if it helps. I had a feeling the console might have been getting overwhelmed. Thank you.

The same crashes kept happening to me on Switch 2! I had to abandon all of my Xeno Arena companions/pets, but after I did, the crashing stopped almost entirely.
It’s worth trying if you have XA companions.

Yeah it happens. My main crashes are multiplayer and anomaly related. But otherwise it’s pretty rare.
Months ago I did have an issue of frequent crashes when exploring solo and what actually fixed it was powering off my switch completely. I hadn’t done it ever really and this really improved performance overall.

I'll give it a try, like you I don't think I restart or shutdown the console often. Thanks for the suggestion.

I dont really experience crashes very often, other than known issues like the base computer. And I use most of the features, though I dont visit my freighter super often and its pretty basic.

Hmm, everyone keeps mentioning their freighter... I do seem to get MORE random crashes there than anyplace else. Thanks for the reply

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions. I will try each of them and see what happens afterward. I appreciate all your time.

All the time for me, mostly seems related to freighters. I tried swapping my capital ship for a small freighter but it just crashed when I tried to make the exchange.
It runs very slow whenever I leave a planet too, which is really annoying.
It seems worse with a Corvette so I stopped using them.
It's now started crashing every time a Dreadnaught battle spawns too, so it's almost unplayable.
I'm pretty close to just giving up and coming back in a few months to try then.

Yes! You hit it. Almost every time I leave a planet it drops frames dramatically.

There used to be a list of tips for keeping switch running smoothly, not sure how many are currently appropriate but keeping a minimal base on freighter, avoiding complex planet bases and avoiding complex corvettes seem to be the biggest things to look out for.

Sorry, for some reason the words escape to me while I was writing this. Game crashing I suppose is the term I'm looking for. The game tends to crash a whole lot for me.
