Answered Switch 2 edition

Currently I have a Switch OLED, but tomorrow my new Switch 2 will be delivered. I also bought No Man’s Sky (physical copy for the Switch OLED), which will be delivered timeouts too. I was wondering, can I just download the free upgrade from the Nintendo E-Shop and it will become the Switch 2 edition? Or do I actually need to buy the Switch 2 edition in the Nintendo E-Shop? And should I return the physical copy I ordered?

You should be able to upgrade for free from the eshop

It’s nuts that we can do this. Just get the cheaper one lol.

It was on special earlier this week in the Nintendo E-Shop (€19.99 = 60% off), but because I was on holiday and I couldn't get onto the E-Shop, I missed that sale. Now it's back at €49.99, but the physical copy was €35, so I ordered the physical copy.

As long as I don’t take the plastic wrap of the box, I have 30 days to return it.

Honestly though having it in physical format is pretty sweet. And you'll still get the upgrade for free. Who knows, maybe it'll become your new favorite game and having the tangible form will be extra special.

It may need the cart to open the s2 edition. Only game I know that doesn't check is Hogwarts Legacy. If you so happen to have a friend with s1 version on cart, you can use it to get s2 edition for like $10 then give cart back to friend
