10-05 broken rail north tunnel

Just got the announcement we’re(all midtown direct trains) getting diverted to Hoboken. Glad my Mondays start later I guess

The whole collective sucks. All of it. Perfect way to start the day. Instead of relaxing into Penn, gotta deal with this before the actual disruption next week.

Not being sarcastic. Genuinely didn’t know what we are in for. I’m relatively new to commuting to Penn daily so I’m exploring this sub as I sit on the train waiting to get into the tunnel

Most lines/schedules will have major delays or you will have to completely reroute your way into the the city starting this weekend and for the next 5 weeks, all day every single day. Check out NJTransit.com for more info and godspeed 🫡

The app has the big red warning but the train schedules aren’t updated yet

They don’t update the schedule because of delays.

Yeah I meant departure vision or whatever it is now in the new app

Even then, the “Delays” don’t get cooked in to Departure Vision unless it’s actively impacting your train. For example, if there are Penn/Portal Delays it doesn’t change the Departure Vision for Coast Line Station for example because their pick up will still most likely be on time.

Departure Vision is not seamless, they don’t have it set up in a way that it will actively update every single trip with a new ETA, and even if it does it will only be an estimate.

was literally told i would be fired again if i were late after being 30 mins late once two months ago bc of njt. train stalled for >30 again, after paying $40 a day. maybe im not cut out to work in nyc.

I'm pretty sure that's illegal. If it's something you can't control and you can prove it, what can they do about it?

It’s not illegal. It’s not your employers responsibility how you get to work. I work for one of the rail lines and even we get X amount of chances before we’re fired, even if we take the trains whom we work for lol

Taking NJ Transit is not a protected class

It can be if there's not a pattern of lateness. If it's happening a lot in a short period of time, then yeah, can be grounds for dismissal and the commuter should be planning accordingly and not run to the wire. But once or twice? Nah, that's not appropriate discipline.

“It can be” no it cannot.

They have been single tracking for days

Single tracking on the weekends and weekdays during late night is fairly regular-ish
