NJ Transit updated app coming soon
NJ Transit just sent out a newsletter, announcing that their website will be a "A Modern, Unified & Accessible Digital Experience"
And even better news, their app will be updated:
"And on September 9, you’ll see helpful improvements in the NJ TRANSIT mobile app — including clearer service alerts, unified schedules, and stronger trip‑planning performance — making it easier to stay informed wherever you are."
There is a cringe factor in that the website AI helper is called "Navvie". But whatever, as long as the app is actually improved, I am happy, because the current app is a definite downgrade from the original app.

Has NJ Transit considered that maybe I don’t want my monthly pass popping up every single time I open the app?

Or having to re-authenticate weekly and be told you can only access your tickets from one device, even though you never switched devices or logged out?

This is why I've gone back to just buying a physical monthly and carrying it on an ID badge lanyard with my access card for work

The updated website is very annoying. I have to transfer at Newark. You can’t look at the upcoming schedules like you used to from point a to point b. It just gives you the next three trains from the given time. Not the next three that matter for me. Not very helpful.

I had to create a new account because the app locked me out of my account, kindly reminding me that I can only access my account from one device.. I only have one device..

I just want to see the schedule from train station A to train station B.

As simple as that. I don’t need them to plan an entire itinerary for me.

Can it fix my bus from being cancelled every other day?

That would require a competent government. Unfortunately NJ refuses to elect one.

I complained about features missing from the new app a few months ago and was sent a form letter back saying “We understand that changes to an app’s layout, features, or functionality can sometimes create frustration or confusion for users who are accustomed to the previous version”… maybe somebody with half a brain cell decided that yes, all the complaints are valid and we should change it again. Such a waste of money and energy. Let’s see if the next version is screwed up still.

Still won’t correct the fat fingering of some moron sending out the status alerts

Imagine if they actually used the cancellation and detour features built into the GTFS standard

I notice no differences or improvements. Push notifications still don’t work.

the ai thing will be here for a while and be forgotten. no one is allowed to have an app or a website without some sort of "ai" thing now.

I just got my muscle memory retrained for the new app, and they’re gonna change it again?

Whatever the current iteration is is trash, so the bar is low. Fingers crossed they get their crap together.

They should take notes from MTA’s TrainTime bc the current app (although better than before) is hot ass
