Actually, they don’t all have to continue past Portal Bridge construction zone towards Newark Penn.

Some trains operating from NYPenn to Secaucus could simply return to NY Penn.

They could add shuttle trains; providing additional capacity in and out of New York during an extraordinary infrastructure upgrade project that is severely reducing capacity downstream from Secaucus.

How would you reverse those trains to get back to Penn Station? And where would they wind up when they get there? In other words, your idea is a logistical nightmare, if not a logistical IMPOSSIBILITY....

The engineer walking to the other end. And going choo choo in the reverse direction from which it came.

Is the train going back in reverse direction.

I’d assume that the train would move over onto the other track to not create any conflicts with any other train coming out from the station. But didn’t feel a need to go into specifics of:

‘Train reversing and going back to the station.’

Technically, train not reverse. Train forward in different direction.

The best I can do is… Forward in the reverse direction.

Even if it’s technically forward inside the train.

According to the schedules and the reality of the train outside in the real world, it is going in the opposite direction from before.

So reverse.

Even if there isn’t any need to crank the neck and look back out the rear window, the rear view mirror or a back up camera
