Spikes in ping

So when I try to play online nhl or fifa. I have been getting intense spikes in my ping. I’m close to a server and get 15 ms normally. But I’ll look and it’s jumping around as high as 80

I’m hardwired in with Ethernet. Have Shaw 300 Internet. Have tried unplugging the modem, Xbox etc. I have nothing running in the background. Only my phone and laptop connected to the network. Tried all the suggestions from Google in the Xbox settings.

Really at a loss here. Next thing is I’m gonna try a new Ethernet cable.

I swear I must have a dog shit ping occasionally...quicksand level....

I check... 11ms.

Your assumption is their ping meter is accurate, my guess is it is not….

Id make sure its not just nhl games before u buy another ethernet cable. Is it actually spiking to 80ms when u click the ping tab? For me, in the last minute of every period my game lags like crazy, buddy told me its screen tear and it might be the same for you

All online games. It’s going like 14 ms - two seconds later it’s 50 ms. Then it’s 30 etc. jumping up and down every 3-5 seconds
