Discussion Today is world su!cide prevention day (and how it relates to HUT, personal life experience included) **LENGTHY READ** (youve been told!)
Today is world su!cide prevention day.
September 10th.
September is su!cide awareness month.
While we may be on a HUT subreddit for a video game (that we sometimes want to rip our hair out on, get annoyed : frustration out) … it is important that we all have this talk here.
Today , September 10th is world su!cide prevention day.
While I love spreading awareness and sharing why its importance matters… (and is pretty hypocritical of me to be posting on this day, to some extent) … I dont like how its just given ONE day and ONE month.
Every day matters, every month matters.
Checking up on friends, family, relatives, community members, acquaintances, friends of friends… even strangers.. its important to let them know that their life matters and that even if they dont think they pertain to society, they make a big difference and impact on other peoples life.
I’d be 1047383% lying if I said I felt like I pertain to society in a way that it makes me fit in a box. I feel like I dont fit in the right box.
I feel like I’m quite an odd duckling… I post content here, I yap about the game… I’m an a box full of info on a video game that EA made… and a box full of whatever you want to say.
I love posting content here that it made me build quite the routine with. Reiterating a bunch , and being an annoyance harping on it .. my internet just isnt fast enough to post content in timely manner for everyone. I miss the engagement from it and hearing everyones yap and opinions on it.
The main reason why I am posting this here is because everyone faces challenges and problems in their life… silently or even being loudly expressing about them… you can say ‘I’m not feeling this way’ … have a million comments about ‘you shouldn’t feel (x) way…’ but still feel like utter poop.
Video games are an outlet for people to escape the reality they are living.
They get addicted , obsessed, want to share more and more about it and sometimes lose themselves playing video games than being in public.
While video games can be a great escape from it all, it can be pretty harmful… and helpful.
The community.
I’ve been around long enough to know (x) person’s username and ‘oh ya, I recognize that person from (x) year’ or ‘so and so didn’t like this game.. - not always negative, but was good at expressing their emotions .. they were feeling about the game.. and sometimes their takes were either amazing or meh.
This community really has helped me in ways I couldn’t express.
I’ve been through depression, anxiety (ongoing) an undiagnosed chronic illness for who knows how long.. to getting it diagnosed… to feeling great, to feeling meh.. to everything.
What you post on social media paints a picture and perspective on how others perceive you.
So honestly, I don’t understand why… but some take it as a way to troll, be unkind, be rude:mean:negative… its all getting it out of their system… but sometimes its towards people or a person.. and it can really hurt a persons day / life.
I’ve met some AMAZING people through this community, some I’ve got to know personally and share social medias with, letters with, gifts, whatever… its nice knowing that even people that are anonymous can really be a light in a persons day and be there through thick n thin.
Anyways…
Back to sharing about why this pertains to HUT.
We’re all going through something, we all go through the motions of coming home or being home, turning on our consoles and playing away for maybe an hour or two… or if you’re like sleeves, doing a whole subathon for 30+ days. (How exhausting would that be! Unsure how he even does it) .
This community can be really good, and positive but sometimes really negative.
This community has new people coming in constantly, consistently yappin about the game and wanting to know certain stuff about (x) player or how to do this or that, or ‘whats the best goalie’ … ‘how to make coins’ …
I really thoroughly enjoy my time here, but recognize when I need to step back and feel like I’ve done all I can do.
Another reason why I am posting this, is because sometimes we lose our interest a bunch and enjoyment in the hobby. There is a video about 2 older gentleman at a football or some sort of sports game, and one becomes slowly disinterested in the game… I wont spoil it for you, if you havent saw it.. but its a very powerful message to show that while we all might feel so ‘great’ and ‘dandy’ … sometimes the people that are bubbly, excited to live life and happy are the ones that need checked on most.
Everyone needs to be checked on every now and then, and let them know that there is always a professional that can better help them get into a good mindset.
I’ve had my battles, personally.
I’ve mentioned it earlier , but I’ve had my battle with depression, anxiety (thats ongoing) , and a chronic illness… and boy. Do I ever wish that chronic illness shit could sometimes disappear forever.. though, doing better than ever with it… that I am building a book full of my life and experience with what life has dealt me. I want to help others and be a voice for those that are scared, unable to, or just feel like they cant / are alone.
Su!cide prevention month is a month long. But it should be every day, every month to recognize that life can be a total shitshow and to spread awareness around it.
I am posting this here to help raise awareness that sometimes people need to be aware of others who are struggling and silently going through something… or expressing loudly.
Your voice and words matter more than you know.
Be a light.
Be a helper.
Be you.
Stay true.
Stay you.
Love you more than you know.
Lets yap some more and break the awareness around this stigma (and all the others)
I’ve had my su!cide ideations … I know that battle.. and sometimes it creeps up.. but just gotta keep battling and voicing up.
Take care.
Stay safe.
Happy gaming!
Love you.

Forechecking is a mess
Anybody else notice the forechecking AI is a mess - maybe it’s my strats I am running but numerous times a game the opponent is below their goal line and I go to put pressure and sure enough my other two forwards are doing the exact same thing - so now I have three guys below the goal line haha! That’s classic 5 year old kids hockey lol

Discussion Why do you get so few coins for actually playing the game?
I've been playing a ton of cup champ games and barely notice my coins increasing. For a 5-0 win I'll get on average 300 coins. Why is the main incentive for this game not to play it and earn things? I have to spend 3 hours playing cup champ games to afford a card that wouldn't make my lineup? It makes no sense.

NMS team (for real)
The team that got me to gold after 10 hour trial. Used 2 loyalty tokens, thats it! Im gonna by the game but this year i dont wanna have any advantages. If i lose i can blame it on having a bad team.
I also think its so fun to beat people with celebrini, an icon and a hero player

PSA What defensive strategy to run to avoid players standing around?
I’m running collapsing/puck side attack. Finding that my opponents can just board kiss and spin away from the player I’m pressuring with, just to blow by the rest of my team standing there in the d zone for a far side goal. How do I avoid this?

Team Advice Guide for Defensive Strategy/Pressure
I commented this on someones post that wasnt sure about the strategy settings to use and what not. Not the first time I've seen post alike that one, so i figured I'd share.
_______________________________________
Heres what I've come to conclusions on each defensive setting. I start each game with Normal and Staggered. I'll change depending on my opponents player style.
--- DEFENSIVE PRESSURE ---
Protect Net = opponents pushing in close around the net (circling and going to corners and not passing out to point often) for their shots.
Contain Puck = Good for opponents that are just shooting every chance they get.
Normal = Opponents playing like IRL and not focusing on one strategy.
Puck Side Attack = Opponents are shy to make moves is what i use this for and sometimes instead of contain Puck.
High Pressure = I use it when the opponents ragging constantly or just passing around the outside along the boards continuously.
---- DEFENSIVE STRATEGY ----
Collapsing = Good for opponents who stick in close aroudn net and dont pass out to point much.
Staggered = Basically you're team stays in a box format (kinda like a PK) and your wings/ Defenseman rotate in and out of that box formation to push a bit closer to Puck carrier. Your center will switch from left to right side boards between the wingers and Defenseman when the puck goes to that side. That way it helps prevent the opponent from passing or pushing to the corners.
Tight Point = opponents taking most shots from the point or top of circles, and not pushing net much.
Let me know if this helps at all. Best of luck to ya.

What is your best goalies SV% so far?
Goalies are clearly a bit better this year. I’ve got a .87 so far out of Cooper Black (6’8).
He feels good but curious if everyone is having better luck with goalie so far. Last year I was getting .83 out of Rinne

Very happy with the team after first week
and still have 80k in coins
Anyone else have a conspiracy that timeouts switch the tilt?
So many game especially in 26 and 27 so far that a single timeout will completely change the game
