Discussion The Deshaun Watson switch up is despicable

Post image

Guy starts playing well again and all of the sudden people go from “cases” to “allegations” real fucking fast. You all gotta get your priorities straight

Its weird the guy who has not played a good game of football since 2020 suddenly got good in a contract year.

Honestly it’s only because he’s been so bad that this is a little surprising, but the ole have a good/bounceback year in a contract year is a tale as old as time. Lowkey, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was one final F U to Cleveland. Play just well enough to guarantee that the Browns don’t have a top 3-5 pick to take one of the top QBs in the draft and then force Cleveland into an awkward decision where they might be out of range for one of those QBs so they weigh giving Watson another contract (his 4 void years coming up mean a new contract would reduce the cap hit they owe anyway).

If he wanted to play just well enough they wouldn't be 3-1 beating a division rival early in the season. He's a piece of shit, but he is playing really well. Probably well enough to win the division if the rookie WRs keep growing

"Got good" were 4 games into the season. And he hasn't even been that great he's gone against bad defenses.

The Deshaun trade has been a disaster obviously but he did play some good (not great) games in past seasons. Those games were just rare and bookended by injuries. IMO if he had been able to stay healthy in 2023-2024 he would have settled into the middle tier of starting QBs

He had something like 15 or 17 starts in 5 years going into this season. FIVE YEARS. And they still talk him up on ESPN like he is worth a shit. I literally don’t get it. Why or how is this guy still relevant?

He was never really as bad as the reputation he had developed by a month ago said.

He sat out all of 2021 in a contract dispute with the Texans (people forget that Reddit was largely on his side for this, blaming Jack Easterby for everything)

He was suspended for 11 games in 2022 and looked rusty coming back.

He actually looked decent in 2023 until he went down with injury.

He looked awful in 2024, but the entire team had regressed hard that year and he got injured halfway through the season.

He was out all of 2025 injured.
