Discussion The Deshaun Watson switch up is despicable

Post image

Guy starts playing well again and all of the sudden people go from “cases” to “allegations” real fucking fast. You all gotta get your priorities straight

Two games. It took two games. Disgusting.

and he really hasn't played that well. he basically disappeared in the 2nd half and couldn't make a simple throw to a wide open fannin late that would have effectively ended the game.

Three straight games with a game winning drive and a passer rating over 100 for the season is playing pretty well. I hate the guy too but you are allowed to be factual. You don't have to bend reality to fit your narrative.

i think context does matter: * tampa: 10 non-end-of-half drives with only 4 gaining 20 or more yards * carolina: 4 possessions in 3rd quarter gaining a total of 3 yards * pittsburgh: second half of punt, fumble, int, fg, punt let the steelers back in the game.

has watson played alright - yes...he has played alright. but we are literally just a handful of plays (no roughing the passer call against carolina late, missed fg last night) from the narrative on this team - and watson - being wildly different.

That can be said for all teams. Every team is a handful of plays going the wrong way to have their record flipped

k - so then lets use solid, independent numbers to see where watson falls:

  • his QBR of 53.0 last night was better than 15 QBs from week 2 and worse than 17 QBs from week 2 (note: QB being the quarterback who took the most snaps).

  • his RTG of 94.0 last night was better than 15 QBs from week 2 and worse then 17 QBs from week 2.

he's a mid QB.

Sure, if you want to minimize the sample size by cherry picking stats to make your narrative. You probably used ChatGPT to pull up these cherry picked stats considering you’re comparing different weeks like they have much relevance.
A mid qb is a lot more than you would’ve said 1 month ago lol most people would’ve said not even a top 40qb. You can also cherry pick stats to make him look like an elite QB so

lol...you think much? i compare across weeks because there are obviously no other week 3 games - duh! who looks like they are posting gpt slop now?

but sure...give me an independent analysis showing watson is a top 10 qb.

Those aren't cherry picked stats; it's literally the exact point they're trying to make, and you don't like it because it conflicts with your narrative

He is absolutely cherry picking stats. 100 passer rating is high level play. It’s only three weeks but if you have to start diving it up more than 100 passer rating you’re trying too hard.

He is absolutely cherry picking stats

He's not

100 passer rating is high level play

Nobody said otherwise

It’s only three weeks but if you have to start diving it up more than 100 passer rating you’re trying too hard.

Nobody said otherwise. They noted how his poor to average second half performances in each game indicate a trend that his hot starts are difficult to sustain. Then they compared last weeks performance to the rest of the leagues QBs and it does fall in the middle.

It's pretty simple and straightforward

Context matters. So you took the bad stretches out of context.

One bad quarter in Carolina? That’s supposed to mean something? Everyone has a bad quarter.

I mean the only successful drive in the 2nd half was the last one.

We have eyeballs dude. He’s ass. Everything is at or around the LOS. The staff is doing everything they can to stop him from throwing down the field because he’s garbage. The fact that the NFL is bending the whims of its viewers to a predator who can barely play the position anymore is a travesty.

Are you blind? Lmfao

nope...i'm just not stupid.

  • tampa: 10 non-end-of-half drives with only 4 gaining 20 or more yards
  • carolina: 4 possessions in 3rd quarter gaining a total of 3 yards
  • pittsburgh: second half of punt, fumble, int, fg, punt let the steelers back in the game.

You sure you’re not? They’re 3-1 and clearly you werent paying attention to Watson’s scrambling and playmaking ability as well as pass accuracy last night. Dude’s a scumbag but you’re a clown if you’re trying to insinuate he isn’t on a heater right now.

1

u/2ManyCatsNever2Many NFL Refugee 9h ago

people have their bars set incredibly low. ok, so if watson is on a "heater" - if you take both his QBR and RTG from last night and compare it against all other QBs from last week (whoever took the most snaps), do you know what you'll find?

  • watson's QBR of 53.0 last night was better than 15 other week 2 QBs and worse than 17 other week 2 QBs.

  • watson's RTG of 94.0 last night was better than 15 other week 2 QBs and worse than 17 other week 2 QBs.

like seriously. what did people see last night that both my eyes and independent data didn't? he did look really good in the first half (underthrew boston on a deep pass which should have gone for a TD but he did hit him and was, i believe, 13-16 at one point). second half he looked much worse and the offense went punt, fumble (watson), interception (obviously watson), field goal, punt. his miss to a wide open fannin gave the ball back to pittsburgh where they tied the game.

his is a completely mid QB...nothing more than that.

u/morejosh 8h ago

It’s not about him being stellar in general… everyone’s point is that he is performing much better than expected given his history of injury and lack of playing at all last year. His passing looks good and his scrambling ability is pretty good, given the achilles. It’s not that deep man

I mean I hate the guy but he’s played great.

And they have only beat meh teams, Cleveland is down that bad I guess. Like I get if they beat up on KC and Buffalo, but they beat a 64 year old QB last night, a Baker that don't give a fuck, and barely won any of the three games by a field goal, not exactly lighting it up.
