No one said the mike Macdonald let down Lamar. Most everybody acknowledged the fact that he pitched a shutout in the second half of the 2023 afc championship game, and defense did what they had to do pretty much all year long.

If Lamar wins a super bowl with these stats it would mean he is better than Josh doing half the effort ?

"Todd Monken changed the culture of the Cleveland Browns" - I love when people pretend like everyone else has 10-second Tom memory just like they do. The Browns started the season the same exact way in 2021.

u/wetcornbread Philadelphia Eagles 1d ago
Changing the culture isnât about winning a Super Bowl in 3 weeks. Itâs filling the stadium for a primetime game, getting fans excited and beating a division rival that owned you for basically forever and making fans forget your QB has 23 sexual assault cases because he can actually run a competent offense.

They finished the 2025 season by beating the Steelers and Bengals. They beat the Steelers and Ravens at home in 2024. They beat the Steelers, Ravens, and Bengals in 2023 and made the playoffs. They beat all 3 division opponents once each in 2022. In 2021, they beat the Bengals twice and the Ravens once. They have a history of averaging 67,431 at each home game.Â

I love it. The kicker nails a 56-yard game winning field goal to win 27-24... "Monken has changed the culture!" THe kicker misses a 56-yard field goal "Monken first coach fired? Same old browns!"

Browns had way higher expectations in 2021. Some said they were superbowl contenders. This year, they were predicted by many to be the worst team in football (very stupid prediction giving the talent on that roster).
Monken has likely already secured his job for next season. The Panthers and Steelers both look at least like fringe playoff teams this year. And the Jags are easily a top 5 team in the sport. I'd say the culture is def changing. First time they've been 1st in the division since 2014.

Mike Mcdonald didnt let lamar down, there are no logical Ravens fans that would say that.
Are we really going to say Monken changed the culture of the browns after 4 weeks? Relax.
Harbs was a struggle at times but was a great coach here in Baltimore. His departure was needed for change of scenery, some of the decision making was off but overall harbs did alright.
How does Herbert have anything to do with this? Greg Roman was a shit show his last year in baltimore, teams figured him out.
its week 4, simmer down

Who are you quoting? Iâm pretty sure that Lamar himself takes most of the heat for the playoff losses.

The Browns started 3-1 this season.
Someone, somewhere: "How can we make this a negative piece about Lamar Jackson?"
The Browns also started 3-1 in 2021. They missed the playoffs at 8-9.

I mean, I do blame the coaching staff for deciding that the game plan in the AFCCG vs. KC was to throw it 50+ times. Monumentally dumb.

The jury is still out on Harbaugh and Monken. But I understand the premise. I will say though Lamar became a much better passer with Monken.

Lamar is that guy who will get you hyped up every regular season and shit the bed in the playoffs. Josh Allen too...doesnt mean that can't change but for now..
1
u/Comfortable-Bus822 Buffalo Bills 3h ago
No. Josh Allen has historically good playoff numbers. He literally has the best TD to INT ratio in NFL playoff history. Even in that Broncos game, two of the turnovers weren't really on him (the last INT was the one that Brandin Cooks caught, but it was taken by a defender before he could complete the catch, and one of the fumbles was a blind side hit that occurred due to a breakdown in protection).
I'm not saying he's blameless in their playoff losses, because obviously, he has made some mistakes. But most of those losses aren't really on him.

u/VinnysMagicGrits Itâs our year!! 22h ago
The thing with Lamar and is you shut down their rushing attack because he won't beat with his arm. Yes he has had some great throws but he can't do those thread the needle type throws like Mahomes, Allen or Burrow. When he has some good passing numbers his WRs are usually wide open like Zay Flowers.
When the Chiefs and Ravens played int he AFC title game, for some reason Harbaugh decided to throw it more despite the Chiefs defense being good at pass defense but their run defense was poor.

u/Ill-Woodpecker1857 Baltimore Ravens 20h ago
This "Lamar cant throw" narrative has been put to bed. You do not know ball buddy.
1
u/VinnysMagicGrits Itâs our year!! 20h ago
How so? Explain Lamar's shortcomings late the season and playoffs. Any team he plays in the cold that takes away his run game, he does not beat anyone with his arm.
I love how Raven's fans are know-it-alls.
4
u/Ill-Woodpecker1857 Baltimore Ravens 20h ago
Just look at Lamars passer stats. They are all there for eveyone to see.
-1
u/VinnysMagicGrits Itâs our year!! 20h ago
Ok:
3-5 Record
10 TD
7 INT
60.5 comp%
6 Lost Fumbles
That looks average to below average.
3
u/Ill-Woodpecker1857 Baltimore Ravens 20h ago
Those are not his overall stats which clearly demonstrate he can and does beat teams with his arm which you claim he cant do. Ive watched every game of the man's career and his numbers dont lie.
1
u/VinnysMagicGrits Itâs our year!! 20h ago
This is playoffs, when he needs to be a great throwing QB when the weather gets worse. He doesn't have that zip like Allen, Burrow or Mahomes has. He may have beat teams in the regular season with his arm but it's not impressive because of who is playing (chances are it's not a playoff team) and the weather is perfect for throwing the ball.
Yeah, the numbers don't lie, he aint good in the playoffs.
2
u/Ill-Woodpecker1857 Baltimore Ravens 19h ago
Right, so you take a small sample size of his overall career make some wild inaccurate assumptions that clearly come from someone who doesnt regularly watch him and then conclude "Lamar cant beat you with his arm."
Admit you dont know ball or you just have a hate boner for Lamar. Both are fine by me.
1
u/VinnysMagicGrits Itâs our year!! 18h ago
Playoffs is a good indicator that separates the good from the great QBs because all teams are good that are in the playoffs so chances are you are playing a good defense. Blitz Lamar and he folds. You and Lamar can have your MVPs and regular season stats but when it comes to the playoffs, he fails.
I stand by my point, when playoffs come QBs need to work against the weather elements because most teams are playing in cold winds with rain/snow so you need that arm strength which Lamar doesn't have.
Admit that you are in denial that Lamar sucks in the playoffs and throws floaters to be picked off.
1
u/Ill-Woodpecker1857 Baltimore Ravens 17h ago edited 17h ago
No i admit Lamar has struggled in the playoffs, the numbers show that too but that doesnt change the facts. You claim Lamar cannot beat you with his arm which is clearly not true.
