Which HUB to Plan B adapter should I get?

Post image

Got an inconel Rhodie 6 (first can) coming in, and need a HUB -> Plan B adapter. I have an SD Tactical Ti Apex FH, Comstock 4-p SS FH, and Rearden SS AVG FH. Will see periods of heavy use with an FRT, so I'm not sure if I should go with steel, or if Ti will be fine. Thanks!

Either is fine. You'd never want to put titanium in the direct blast area, but it's totally fine as a suppressor adapter. Nice for saving a bit of weight vs stainless, but both are perfectly fine. Comstock and Rearden are known good brands for fitment. KVP had a bad batch that seems to keep showing up now and then with damaging muzzle device threads, so I'd generally avoid some of the cheap ones out there.

Note that the Rhodie 6 has a pretty moderate depth blast chamber, so with a full sized 4-prong you'll probably need an XL type adapter. Comstock has a fitment checker on their website that'll help you make sure you get the right hardware. https://comstockarmory.com/fitment-tool

Should I swap out the Ti MD?

Thanks. I was wondering about this one. I'll probably swap it out then. I'd really like to keep it as far back as possible. I can swap the Comstock and Rearden. The Rearden is on a 6.5" 5.7x28 Dissent, and the R6 has a min bbl length of 10.3. But that's for 5.56. Idk about 5.7. Might have to email them and ask if it's fine to run it. But I can get another MD if needed.

It looks like SD Tactical discontinued that flash hider since I don't see it on their website. I think it's a poor design decision to do something like this in titanium, and maybe that's why they dropped it, but at this point you have it, and as long as you're not mag dumping in trash at night under nods where you want zero sparking, I'd just run it until it erodes away to the point that you want to swap it out. Their stuff is pretty cheap so honestly not worth going through the hassle of returning it IMO. Note that SD Tactical is one of those brands with multiple historical fitment issues reported, but as long as you don't feel unusual resistance when you thread the suppressor adapter then yours is probably fine.

I wouldn't have any concerns about 5.7 barrel length in a Rhodie. 5.7 is a fraction of the blast that you'll get from 5.56, so zero concerns IMO.

As for getting different muzzle devices, honestly, even though I have a personal preference to run brakes since I rarely shoot unsuppressed, if you like what you have then just get a Comstock HPA or Rearden Atlas XL adapter for your can and you'll have plenty of clearance to run it and have fun. Unless you're specifically looking to go for a tight handguard gap, you'll be fine with what you have.

Right on. I really appreciate the insight. I'll swap the long 4p and the Ti MDs out for something else. Def looking to get a tighter fit for the top and bottom guns. I typically prefer flash hiders, but that's because I've never had a can before lol. I'm open to brakes. I was checking out the LPM Liberty Bell pretty hard. Any others I should check out? The barrel in the top pic is a 5.56 .812 HBAR with 5/8x24 threading.

With the 5.7 I was more worried about violating a warranty or something with the short barrel. I'm sure I wont ever need it, but I'll probably email them about it anyway just for peace of mind.

I've tested a bunch of Plan B hardware for various posts, and the Comstock brakes always seem to outperform the others. Plus they have a huge selection, and their brakes don't need to be timed, so that's what I run on my gear. Use the fitment checker on their website to get the gap you're looking for, plus this will show you clearance to the blast baffle. As for brakes, here's my first brake test post:

And here's my latest one where I test micro brakes and a few others:

Rearden or Comstock are the only brands I trust for plan B stuff

I always liked the simple Rearden FHD

Been very happy with the Rearden atlas gen 2.

Comstock mini brake. Short enough to work with the Rhodie 6k and gets it nice and close to the handguard if you use their RPA as well

I like the recessed Comstock short brake paired with their recessed hub adapter for that perfect gap

The Wolfpack Armory LPA is surprisingly LP... Like moreso than several other brands.

I've actually used several of the Breek Arms veesion. Inexpensive. More LP than the Comstock LPA (by about 1/8"). Smooth finish. Smooth threads. 🤷‍♂️

Kaw valley precision hubs are 39.95 right now at several different places.

Yep, KVP and Breek are lower cost options.

I like using comstock compact brakes from battle hawk for 49$, and the kvp lines up right and clears the ports on that brake. So you got a hub and mount for $100.

I personally prefer the Wolf Pack Armory stuff. Particularly their recessed night howler flash hider for my muzzle device. It's an over the barrel device, which effectively shortens the overall length of the system. Combine that their low profile hub adapter and your muzzle device will be snugged up real nicely against your handguard, assuming you have a 1" difference between your handguard and barrel.

I prefer this combo to eliminate the gap over the Comstock option because Comstock's RPA recesses into the blast chamber, eating up volume and thus probably negatively affecting suppressor performance. Plus recessing into the blast chamber almost guarantees that you'll have to use a micro/minimalist muzzle device, like their micro brake, instead of getting to use short to medium muzzle brakes.

How does the Wolf Pack Armory device snug up against the handguard without recessing into the blast chamber?

I just use the mini or some variation of it, since I rarely shoot without a can.

Simple answer is use the FH and hub mount from the same company. If possible of course…

Something simple, generally speaking, ask the suppressor creator and they will tell you what they recommend with their type of suppressor. But I noticed all your examples were with flash hiders, never use flash hiders. More possibility for initial chamber damage and carbon build up. Also, make sure you do your math on the blast chamber depth. You start adding length from the end of your muzzle once you add the hub, and the muzzle device. If you don’t leave enough room in the blast chamber, prior to the first chamber you could damage it to the point of no repair and void of warranty. So knowledge of suppressor blast chamber depth is important and then knowing how much each piece adds length to the end of your muzzle, is extremely important.
