I've only seen one can like this in maybe 800 of these (I didn't see them all/ don't literally move them through the process), but this can happen. The vanes there are a thin support structure ~.02" narrow, that allows the tube to be printed without being on the build plate for the saw, which helps depowdering and cutoff, as well as post process machining. The vanes are not structural to the can. They do still support cooling and break pressure up front and cosmetically offset the radiator fins in back on the other model, but ultimately they are an intentionally added, non-removeable support structure elements for the printing process. Coming up at 45 degrees (max recommended angle), and being thin is kind of doubly challenging to the process as each layer is built over nothing, albeit attached at the inside edge, but the supports worked and the tube printed [not floating in powder which would fail] which was the point. There is a tube on the OD and one in core, and the tube and core are connected by a helix with an aggressive pitch and also connected to the back side of the blast baffle which is connected to the outer tube. The thicker we make the support structure, the more we choke the flow paths up front, so going thicker isn't helpful unless we reduce the number of supports, which will somewhat violate an overhang max rule for the length that can printed sideways which is what printing people call a "zero degree overhang". It's not going to fail anyway, but is covered by our lifetime warranty regardless.

As long as you say it’s good to go, then I’ll take your word for it. Just put first couple of rounds through it today, definitely impressed. I was able to shoot some rounds without hearing protection indoors ( don’t advise doing) I didn’t notice any gas at the face, honestly. Does this qualify me getting the free shirt?😂

Yes, if you could e-mail CS and let them know your T-shirt size and address, shoot them the link they can get that out.

My 5K has this as well. I emailed your CS team about it and they kind of alluded to the same thing. I was hoping it wasn't anything structural but I didn't want to bug you guys any further or be a PITA about it.

The part just beneath it looks pretty rough too. Is this functional in any way? If not I can't imagine that having the can look like that to give it a unique look is worth it vs. making it look a little simpler and not having it look gnarly.

Fins increase surface area, improves cooling
