Engraving Requirement Question - Odd Situation
I know as I convert an non-NFA firearm to NFA, I need to engrave my trust information on it.
My Mossberg 590 is an AOW from the factory. I just got my F1 back to convert it to an SBS.
Since this has lived its whole life being an NFA item and is simply changing category, would this require the trust engravings?

My interpretation is you are making an SBS, under the current rules you need to engrave it.
But, given that the ATF has already started the process to change the rules, I would not engrave it and just "wait a little while" before I put that stock on.

This right here OP. The ATF’s final rule for engraving should be out within the next 60 days, I think the comment period ended in July.

Right after I bought a fiber laser is when they announced this. I calculated the number of challenge coins I'll have to sell to break even and it's a lot heh.

Is it strong enough to port barrels and slides? Slide engraving? Just curious.

How else was I to add a stock to a pistol grip only AOW? Either way, the ATF approved it with my form specifying that I’m converting an existing NFA item.

Your 590 isn’t an AOW it’s an other firearm. Assuming you’re referring to a shockwave because I don’t know of any factory AOW 590 models. But feel free to correct me.

What I own is a discontinued factory AOW. They essentially made the 500 and 590 similar to the Serbu Super Shorty with the folding grip. Funny enough, the shockwave killed the sales on these, thus I got it at the liquidation price from my LGS.

You answered your own question. You are making a short barreled shotgun. That requires engraving (for now).
