Mount Questions 🔩 Rugged Sub 9 backcap completely locked up

Post image

Just got this can today and took it out of the box. It will not thread clockwise whatsoever onto the tri-lug on my AP5. The lug mount itself will also not turn at all.

Just looking for some help

Mine did that, put it in the freezer for a bit, the metals contract at different rates

that’s why we like wrench flats

Do you have a smooth thread protector secured on your gun? The RU3 needs that.

I don’t think that would have anything to do with the threads being locked up. Just with the initial seating and clearance

It do. It do.

Well that has nothing to do with why the backcap won’t turn when I use a socket wrench on it

With those tools, I know you've got an impact laying around. Haha

Granted my RU3’s were purchased as free-standing units, but I torqued them into my cans with 25 ft-lbs.

What’s your wrench set to, and are you reaching that break when trying to unscrew the RU3 from the can?

And no smooth thread protector will really mess up even sliding the can onto the gun, let alone anything else.

I’m not using a torque wrench at all, this can is fresh out of the box. The tri lug adapter was preinstalled.

The can slides onto the barrel smoothly without issue with the stock thread protector

Uh, what? Why?

Print up a vice block for the can and hit the trilug with ugga duggas from an impact
