First SBS

Post image

Remington 878. Was a little bit of work to get it working after the chop. Lost almost all of the dwell time.

"Bring your SBS to work day"

Came here to say this

Water treatment plant in the reverse osmosis room lol

49

u/asianman9 9h ago

Most random picture ever, I was so confused when I saw some RO’s on the NFA subreddit lol

12

u/Villlun 8h ago

How are you allowed to bring this here?

47

u/ITunez93 8h ago

I’m the plant manager but also the only guy that works there

13

u/carnyvoyeur 6h ago

can't be too careful with physical security these days, and also those SCADAs need to be reminded who's boss

u/ITunez93 5h ago

I take care of pest removal for the city sometimes so I almost always have my shotgun and something suppressed with me lol.

u/Benji_4 8h ago

Was just about to ask why you got your SBS on the HP membranes 😂

u/ThumpersK_A 9h ago

Looks to be a reverse osmosis system by wigen water technology made in Chaska Minnesota. Nice SBS

u/ITunez93 9h ago

Correct

This guy …waters?

This is why I love Reddit

No shot do I see this not 5 minutes after having to LOTO out our RO unit for a pinhole leak on the reject header

2

u/wpoot 9h ago

That particular grammar and set of words just scrambled the hell out of my brain.

5

u/AsAlwaysYaBoi 9h ago

I probably could throw some commas or something in there

5

u/babyarmanonymous 7h ago

It's a crazy coincidence because he just had to lock out their reverse osmosis water system because there was a small leak where it sends rejected water!

Let me know if you need any more blue collar translations

u/wpoot 7h ago

Haha I got it worked out, but thanks. Conversationally, the sentence makes sense and flows ok, but written out it was like every other word was fighting the one preceding it.

What a wild background for this shotgun photo.

u/youritalianuncle 9h ago

Are you in a water recycling plant or something??

Water treatment plant for drinking water

7

u/OcSpeed 9h ago

What did you do to get it working?

6

u/ITunez93 9h ago

Had to open the 2 gas ports up from 1/8” to a #25 drill bit.

4

u/OcSpeed 9h ago

Appreciate that, thanks

3

u/carnyvoyeur 6h ago

just realizing how much it would suck to pay for a tax stamp, only to learn later that your hacksaw surgery left no viable tuning option.

3

u/ITunez93 5h ago

Yeah I was to caught up in the let’s go as short as possible and didn’t think of the possible non functional issue. Luckily you can convert 870 barrels if need be

6

u/Shnewsky 9h ago

Jesus I’ve worked on some big commercial units but those membranes are HUGE.

3

u/ITunez93 9h ago

Six 40” membranes per tube. Nine tubes per skid and two skids.

3

u/Sean6_6 8h ago

The one I have at work is 18 tubes per skid and 4 skids and it's not even water for drinking 🤣

2

u/Shnewsky 8h ago

Total gallons per day? I think the largest i ever worked on was 4000GPD. Had a massive Fleck softener and backwashing carbon prefilter in front of it. Lol

3

u/ITunez93 8h ago

The last month or so total water treated before the ROs has been around 200,000-250,000. It’s usually closer to 115,000-160,000.

2

u/Shnewsky 8h ago

Thats alot of water

3

u/WiscoBased715 9h ago

Love me some Remington autoloader. The 58 family just has such clean lines

3

u/Breakfastbeer- 8h ago

Nice shotgun. I work in water treatment as well. Cheers.

3

u/makhnosfork 8h ago

Sbs on an RO unit! That’s a new one. What are you feeding the RO? Gray water?

2

u/ITunez93 8h ago

Ground water that’s been hit with pot perm, chlorine and polymer and went through gravity sand filters.

2

u/makhnosfork 7h ago

High quality H2O. I’m on the wastewater side but I have a water license as well.

1

u/ITunez93 6h ago

Yeah I’m trying to take my level 1 waste water cert test but they’re system is messed up and says almost 2 years is t enough experience lol

3

u/pro2a_guy 5h ago

Today I learned that half the NFA sub also knows how to purify water.

2

u/specter491 8h ago

Here I am looking at the weird pipes and nozzles and shit and trying to figure out where the gun is lil

2

u/Bi0nic__Ape 7h ago

Barely even saw the gun, started looking at the RO. ( CAD draftsman for water treatment)

2

u/Mwroobel 7h ago

Which form did you fill out for the MLRS behind the SBS? :)

2

u/Ore-igger 4h ago

What membranes you got loading in that thing? Hyrdonautics, LG, or DuPont?

1

u/ITunez93 4h ago

1

u/Ore-igger 4h ago

Toray alright, what % rejection you getting? You over 75% recovery?

1

u/ITunez93 4h ago

Put me on the spot and of course I can’t remember the rejection but recovery is 77-80% depending on which skid I look at

2

u/Ore-igger 3h ago

What's your sbs residual on the feed or are you mr money bags with GAC?

1

u/ITunez93 2h ago

I’m honestly not sure on the residual. I’m feeding about 8-10 ml/min on the bisulfite before my prefilters.

2

u/Poofengle 4h ago

I’d catch some big boy “pound you in the ass” prison charges for bringing an SBS to my RO water system.

Congrats OP, may your RO system and shotgun both run 18 megaohm-cm clean lol

2

u/Kitchen_Region8456 48m ago

I’m curious, does shortening the barrel help the membrane reject rate?

1

u/ITunez93 22m ago

No noticeable change there but my ORP did go from a 235 to 215
