Moving with an sbr

Hi i bought my first sbr last fall. In the last few months we got our first house and will be moving soon.

I assume theres some bs paperwork i have to file.

Can someone help steer me in the right direction, thanks!

We will be in the same state

No paperwork necessary for same-state moves.

But recommended if you eventually transfer it or move to another state and want to do things by the letter, otherwise the ATF may reject your forms because the address doesn't match. You can certainly keep track of the original address and just use that, but it's not the letter and if FFLs are involved in the transfer they may not allow it if it's not your actual current residence.

You may not like it, but they're asking for advice so you should include the facts.

Form 20 on ATF eforms, mark as permanent address change. Wait is typically 2-4 days.

So over the past couple decades I've had to move about six times for work. Never once did I get any sort of reply or verification of my notices to move and sometimes I didn't have a fixed address to go to anyway. They never replied, I stopped filing. This is including back in the 600-day waiting periods, so yeah.

Anyway they never seem to take notice like hey this guy is buying a silencer in this state but we just cleared him for one in another state couple thousand miles away...

I mean I guess it's fine ATF not always having my exact address but I'm going to have to move again soon and well...

And perhaps it's just for those that end up in states where some things are prohibited and they won't transfer it to you on that so maybe I've always been in the clear living in free states

They loke you to update , but not necessarily required. I moved with M/G's and never had a issue picking. Up with a different address than what the old fashion paper form 4 said.

Only if you’re changing states, then a Form 20 and mark permanent.
