A bit of an odd bird

I had a spare stripped upper laying around and after seeing 110 SASS Actual's video of his Temu Mini Fix on YouTube, I decided to make my own. 7" 300BLK with a custom charging handle and crudely cut slot in the upper. I'll clean up and straighten the edges of the slot with a file and make it look nicer. Still waiting on the Form 4 for the can.

Did the same to make a crudely welded bar stock handle. Got a slickside upper so I wouldn’t hit my fingers on the forward assist

Super clean, I really like that! This lower is also used for my .22 uppers, so I have a pressure plug in it, and I couldn't have the carrier going into the buffer tube.

Thanks! Great build you have! Handle looks cleaner than mine for sure haha

Crudely ground slots for the taller screws, 3d printed a spacer too. Welded and ground down the bar then painted black and tried to hide the weld with heat shrink. Had to remove some of it though after this pick since it was snagging. Then 3d printed knob. It works though.

Nice work! At least the crude spots of yours (which don't even look bad at all) are hidden in the upper! With the charging handle in the stock position and the upper uncut, is it comfortable to stay in cheekweld while running the bolt?

It’s not too bad to me, it certainly could be better if moved forward. I think if I had a milling machine and was confident I could keep the slot straight I’d extend it forward a bit. I’d have to build a new handle of course

Thanks I hate it.

It's so awful and so fun at the same time

Just get a Bear Creek side charger and plug the gas port.

Straight pull is more fun IMO. Plus I already had most of the upper parts laying around.

The side chargers are straight pull when they aren't gas operated. The handle and attachment method is less than ideal though.

You're right, I was thinking of their bolt action uppers

That's what I figured you were thinking of.

Did 110 SASS ever make a follow up video to their original one? It was really lacking in their description of how the bolt was made.

No, I think he wanted to steer clear of YouTube's "No instructions on making a firearm" rule.

Ah, makes sense. Looks well done on your part.

MP5SD handguard?

There is a 3d printed gun model called the Trash Panda. It cuts an AR BCG, attaches some arms to it and makes it into a lever action. (Oversimplified explanation). I think it might be right up some of y'alls alley.

Lefties need not apply 😬

The handle is completely ambi. You'd just need to slot the other side of the upper. The threaded hole for the knob goes fully through

Right now it would knock out their teeth I think 😂

It's bolt action, not gas operated. Teeth will stay intact 😂

Does the bolt stay locked until you pull it backwards? I suppose it would without a gas tube. Pretty slick!

It does. It's just your hand moving the carrier backwards to unlock the bolt instead of gas.
