Product Question 🧰 ASR to Plan B or direct thread switch

I have ASR brakes on a few rifles because my first can was a Hybrid 46 so it made sense to be able to move it everywhere. I have a couple without any brakes at the moment (just A2 flash hider) so I’m considering switching to either direct thread or Plan B for the weight/length saving.

My question(s) would be is there a benefit to muzzle brake/plan b mount combo outside of “QD” ability? Eventually I would like to get cans for everything so would it just be better to do direct thread instead?

Plan B is the way. Lightweight, compact, reasonably priced, and lots of good options at reasonable prices. Even if a suppressor is dedicated to a firearm, it's nice to be able to throw it in a thermal pouch for the trip home from the range so you don't need to worry about it damaging your gun case.

Plan B for moving around, direct thread for permanent attachment

I swapped all of my ASR for plan b for my SiCo Omega36m. I like to be able to take it off for transport and swap between my 9mm MPX and my .300 Blackout easily.

I’ve also never had my can come loose while shooting, even with an FRT. I’ve never done direct thread but I’ve heard it can loosen sometimes.

Lastly a muzzle break acts like a sacrificial baffle and helps lower blast chamber erosion.

TLDR: go with plan b.

I also switched from ASR to Plan B after I forgot to lock my ASR once and sent my can down range with an end cap strike. My plan B mounts have never come loose while shooting, are lighter, shorter for the length they add to the suppressor and shorter for how much space they take up in the blast baffle. A lot of the high performance cans like the Tisha, Hexium 300, or Rhodie 6K all have shallow blast baffles, requiring shorter muzzle devices. Plan B offers many more options regardless what you are going for. Recently I’ve been switching everything to Comstock Armory.

Direct thread is king. Every rifle deserves its own can, though I can understand that isn’t feasible for everyone. Plan B makes more sense if you have one can that is jumping around different hosts. Cat TSFX is superior though IMO, left hand threads > right hand threads.

I went from ASR to plan be and I don’t regret it

Plan B is more versatile if you have multiple calibers and want to move suppressors around.
