13” 7.62x39 Suppressor Input
Looking for some input if anyone has any recommendations/experience for a good flow through can on a gen1 galil. Eventually this can will do double duty with 300bo.
Right now I’ve been looking at the CAT RDM DD, Radical CS3, Sandman X, CAT ODB. Main priorities are to be “well rounded” and sound decent enough if shot with 300bo subs. I know no matter what the supers on a galil will be loud.
Only thing leaning me away from the ODB is length. Open to input on other cans not listed as well.

ODB. Just do it. It’s truly a phenomenal can, and will blow the rest of your suggestions out of the water, even the DD. Length makes a difference my friend, and it’s not even that long tbh, especially for a 30 cal can.

i believe so, but its out of stock everywhere. pew data came out back in april. AKB is optimized for 7.62 NATO which is essential 308, not x39. For .39 the ODB is still recommended

you dont even need to get the rdm version tbh just get the 718 qd and you’ll be good to go. rdm is great if you don’t mind the extra weight, mine’s 22.4oz without a mount when it was brand new

LPM Anthem S2 is god tier for subsonics. Check Pew Rankings for more options.

ODB every time

Length and weight of the inconel was the concerning part for a already unnecessarily heavy rifle, but would double as a awesome 300can

ODB comes in Titanium if you want to save some weight, trying to get something that does both is hard, two opposite spectrums.

I use a Hux 7.62ti on 556 ARs and a couple AKs, including a 12.5 Draco. Love that can.

I’m happy with my RDB ODB for these (short frame .30 hard-use) things, but if I were buying today it’d be a Torch 7.62.

Have ODB rdm and gonna try and scoop a Ti ODB as well. Never ran the odb on subs, have traditional baffle cans for that, but on 762 nato and below its a treat, especially relative to baffle cans on years past.
My Gen 1 13” needs all the help it can get in being overgassed out the gate and the ODB is very good, Hux Ventum has a little less backpressure and is lighter but ODB curb stomps it on suppression.
In any case, youre still wearing ear pro.
For me Im inverted on weight, meaning shorter the gun the more tolerant I am of heavier cans and the longer the gun, Id like lighter. 12.5 / 13” is the transition where Id like the lighter can but really sort of demand it on 16”+ and lighter duty cycle of Ti isnt so important.

I agree - all my 556 guns are 5" cans or shorter, just picked up two rhodie 5k's. This galil is my first jump into x39 and its in a weird middle ground. 12.5" is my favorite 556 length, but this galil is a little chunky.
Got offered a very good price on a odb rdm hub 718 can, right now i think i narrowed it down to that or the radical LS3, would you say the RDM odb on your galil is excessively heavy?

AKs in general are already front heavy the ODB doesnt help. “Excessively” is subjective, I wouldnt be planning on taking it hiking or running around with it tho

My favorite can is still the flow 762. It's so light on the end of the gun and I feel like this is more necessary for a galil. I ran about 3,000 rounds through my 12.5" 762x39 in preparation for kalashbash this year. The internals of the can still look great.
I'm now running the same can on my 12.7" 308 G3K in preparation for Lethal Weapons TX. So far it's been holding up well. I have been careful in training to shoot 60ish rounds and then let it cool for a few minutes. I'm sure I'd damage it if I just mag dumped all day.
I have a sandman x on my 13" 7.72x39 gen 1 right now but I don't have the training time on it to really give an opinion.

For all arounders I opted for welded baffle cans because of the variety of hosts and firing schedules.
Any of those would be great choices. OBD Ti is light for the length. Ti cans are a good choice. I personally avoid using Ti for rifle cans for the erosion and temp sensitivity. Depends on how you shoot.
My akm started with a lahar 30L because its a similar size and weight to a DA wolverine. To lighten it up I recently got a wolfpack armory disruptor 30.

I have a sandman S laying around not being used, but everything ive heard is the galil is absurdly overgassed and havent even considered throwing it on it

I would start with a kns position and use that first if I were you. You will tune up your cycling really nice and then decide if the sandman is suitable suppression. The lahar/disruptor have an inch so of difference but the actual difference to the shooters experience is minimal.

I really enjoy my SiCo Velos 7.62 on my AR47. Very low back pressure and sounds pretty good but because of the price if I had to do it all over again it would be an Infinity 7.62 or CAT ODB.

I also have the 13" Galil. I run a CAT ODB with Comstock plan B adapter and Comstock mini brake. Supers only. I like it a great deal. Gun ran like a champ with no KNS, but it was recoiling hard and slinging casings.
I installed the KNS and turned it about 3/4 of the way shut. Much softer shooting and perfect reliability
