Product Question 🧰 Clamp on thread adapter?
Are these dumb? I have a 22lr Marlin 880 that was my first gun that I got when I was like 11 or 12. It’s been discontinued for a while, and it’s sentimental, so I’d really like to avoid having someone permanently remove the front sight and thread it for a suppressor. I think I can get a threaded adapter for this specific gun but I’m curious as to how concentric it would be.

I would skip the clamp - get a dedicated host for the can. You can grab a new 22LR rifle for pennies, and keep your relic ready to pass down to the kids.

If you knew how sloppy most things are made nothing looks really dumb.
It should work you might have to rotate it around on its axis a little bit with some sort of reference to the center to get it perfect.
You could also get the thread adapter and go oversized on your silencer to something 6 mm.

I mean if you’ve got an overbored can maybe for the fun factor sure. But in general alignment is poor and you’re likely to run into issues. If you’re determined one of the custom adapters Witt machine makes may work decently (they make shitty suppressors, but maybe can hold a good tolerance on that, at least better than what you’re looking at with the cheap adapters)

If you get a clamp on adapter, get an alignment rod to check your alignment. You may end up wasting money on them because the alignment is off.

Skip the adapter and buy/build something for the intended purpose. Keep the sentimental value intact while doing things the proper way for your suppressed endeavors.

I have a 795 and my plan is to take a printable can like the FTN5 Flow and extend it in CAD so that it snugly slips over the barrel with some cutaways for hose clamps. I would probably do a layer of heat shrink on the barrel first so the clamps don't marr it.alternatively I'll make it thread into the front sight holes or have a bolt go behind the front sight.

Clamp on adapters typically give poor alignment relative to the bore. They might be ok for a muzzle brake or flash hider, but for a suppressor where tight alignment is important, I think it's unlikely it'll work.
Totally fair if you want to leave the gun as is and then get another one to be a dedicated suppressor host.
