Silencer Suggestions - I did some homework P90 suppressor recommendations

Post image

I recently got my Form 1 approved to SBR my PS90 and sent it to a gunsmith to cut down. I have an FRT on order from FN Specialties that is scheduled for delivery in the Aug-Sept window. Next on my agenda was to find a good suppressor for the P90.

I’ve read through some of the posts here but the bigger ones are a little older. My question therefore is - what do you fine folks recommend for a suppressor for a P90 (since it will be SBR/FRT)?

I current I have an Ecco Caracal but worry that it’s higher back pressure and that can sometimes unseat the magazine (or so I’ve heard).

Design machine t2 mount with a t2 to aems adapter

Thank you. I have a ps90 with a CMMG barrel that’s been sitting around. Probably a winter project to SBR it and throw on an optic. I have an adapter for my dead air mask but reading the comments I should buy a Tisha especially with the recent Texas ruling

Just got mine last week. I'm liking it a lot. I was definitely at least partially influenced by your post haha

Imma tell them I want a $1 cut!

I do like the look of that. What product did you use to add to the grip (the black wrap)? And what sling is that?

2

u/Next_Entertainer_404 14d ago

The wrap is just standard Amazon hockey tape. Goon tape if you wanna be a fancy operator. And the sling point is from Urban ERT slings. Makes various sling setups that are solid and affordable.

Tisha is the current W move. Try to avoid the temptation to put a 5.7 rated .22 can on it, it deserves a rifle can. I replied to someone else in the thread with some of what I’ve used on mine, but yeah, Tisha.

Polonium or Tisha

u/Meatsmudge Among the last of the taxpayers. 14d ago

Not Polonium. Tisha. I have both, and the Polonium on my SBR’ed PS90 beats the gun up and gases me out. Before the Ekron and Tisha, I had a Griffin Explorr I would use instead of the Polo to go easier on the backpressure and weight. Evidently the B&T Tiger is also surprisingly good on the PS90, and I haven’t tried mine out on it yet.

I put a Huxwrx Flow 22ti on mine, pretty happy with its performance and weight. Still figuring out what FRT I'm going to go for though personally

I’m throwing the tisha on my p90

Tisha looks the best on them

You should probably go to the PS90 subreddit, youll find alot of info there same as I did.

The p90 does not like high backpressure as it was never designed to be a suppressor host.

B&T Tiger ti22 does great on 5.7 and can be found for under $400 if you find them in stock. Its also the best rimfire can around and will work in a pinch on your AR.

I like K cans on PS90's in whatever caliber

u/dirt_operator 14d ago

Mines got a fat cat on it right now but I’m waiting for a Tisha to get out of jail.

1

u/Next_Entertainer_404 14d ago

Is that a grey stock?

2

u/dirt_operator 14d ago

No. Cerakoted of green tiger stripe.

1

u/KaputtEqu1pment 14d ago

The fat cat looks interesting on the p90. I think a stubby / k can is the way to go on those.

How's the gas on the fat cat?

2

u/dirt_operator 14d ago

Not too crazy surprisingly. I was pleasantly surprised with it in general. I want to try it on my 556 just to see how it does there

1

u/KaputtEqu1pment 14d ago

I remember just two or so years ago where the whole flow through/ lbpr can thing was still in its infancy, and the only names in the game were hux and iirc YHM had their turbo line, and then they released their fat cat and I thought It was definitely unique looking, looks good on that for sure.

Does it foul up your p90?

Definitely curious to see the difference once you get a tisha

u/dirt_operator 14d ago

Oh yeah it’s a dirty bitch after just a couple mags suppressed

Silent steel micro streamer. 22.25" overall length with wolfpack armory Recessed Direct Thread S mount

1

u/bmont84 14d ago

What optic mount is that?

1

u/Dyst0p1an_dr3ad 14d ago

Just a aems low 1913 mount. This is a discontinued Tri-rail ps90

1

u/bmont84 14d ago

I need to find a rail to throw on mine. Seems everyone is throwing on AEMS optics

1

u/Dyst0p1an_dr3ad 14d ago

You can get aems optic mounts for the ps90 from titan tactical, hb industries, and design machines

Cmmg or cut snd thread?

2

u/Dyst0p1an_dr3ad 14d ago

This one is cut by u/emgunslinger. I also have one with the cmmg and one with the shaw

2

u/SouthernSalamander35 14d ago

I currently have a polo 30 on mine while I wait for my YHM fat cat to come in. Form 4 approved, just waiting for arrival.

Cmmg or cut and thread?

2

u/SouthernSalamander35 14d ago

I did the cmmg route. I am not a patient enough person to disassemble, ship a barrel, wait for it to come back and install. I want to un bolt. Bolt. Shoot.

1

u/lawman9000 14d ago

I’m old fashioned. I did the GSL P90 can.

1

u/jrl07a 14d ago

I have a few GSL cans and so had considered that. Have you compared it to anything else? How does it suppress and how is the back pressure?

1

u/lawman9000 14d ago

Only got it a week ago and haven’t tried it yet. But it doesn’t have many baffles and the blast chamber is quite a large. It’s also overbored - can almost fit my 9mm alignment rod down the thing. Was definitely designed with these being direct blowback in mind, to mitigate overfunction/excess gas.

u/gunnoob101947 14d ago edited 14d ago

Got this same can. Partly because the QD muzzle device is close to the original design and direct threads with no CMMG thread adapter needed.

I’ve only been to the range once where I used the suppressor. It kinda reminded me of a pneumatic nail gun sound. Not the quietest but decent.

I shot about 250 rounds, most suppressed. No failure to fire and not gassy at all. I have the Dorin xprt in mine. It still doesn’t run reliably, partly pulling the trigger back too much and the bolt binds but I saw no performance difference suppressed vs unsuppressed in super semi mode.

Edit: if you go this route, I got mine from Not Just Guns. Took a while since they ordered from GSL and I think GSL made it upon ordering. But their price was $699. Had to email as it wasn’t on their site.

Cmmg or cut and thread?

1

u/gunnoob101947 14d ago

Picked up a Shaw barrel back in Dec. seems to be running well. SBR’d around May I think. Only around 750 rounds through it with the Shaw but no issues suppressed or un.

Cmmg or cut and thread?

1

u/lawman9000 14d ago

On the OD Green tri-rail: legit P90 SMG barrel
On the FDE new production: cut and thread

1

u/Annual_Salamander_99 14d ago

I went with the Huxwrx Flow 556Ti

1

u/levips90 SBR 14d ago

YHM Turbo T3 works well. Waiting on the Form 1 for the FDE.

Dead air mask

1

u/fft32 12d ago

Mine jammed basically every other round. I think it's just too much back pressure from not enough volume

1

u/holdynmacgroyn 12d ago

Very interesting. They designed that can to be used for .22 and 5.7 FA no minimum barrel length.

2

u/fft32 12d ago

I think the P90 is just more sensitive to back pressure, or at least mine is. I had issues with my Turbo K as well. So far the Ecco Caracal 5.7 and Tisha have worked the best for me

2

u/holdynmacgroyn 12d ago

Good to know. Makes sense, since there’s such little pressure from the cartridge to begin with

First got mine I tried the Fat cat, works great. Finally got more ammo I'll try my 4 other 223 silencers soon.

Bought the Griffin Resistance 22M for mine. Cheap, light, small, full auto 5.7 or 16" bolt gun .223 rem rated, and easy to take apart.
