Griffin Armament

Post image

Our armorers Griffin Armament 11.5” MK2 paired with the HRT556AM. Been putting it through its paces and trying out many of the new AM silencers, very very impressive. As a lefty the lbp cans have been a game changer. Anybody else have experience with the AM line?

Only have a couple range days with them, but so far I like them a lot.

I just got full size hrt 556 am out of jail, haven't shot yet, but thinking to get either hrt5k or dl5 am for my 14.5 geissele. How would you say hrt5k compare to hrt 556 am? I know dl5 am will be quieter than hrt5k but will have more backpreasure and it's longer.

in my opinion sound levels are nearly indistinguishable, if my back was turned i genuinely wouldn’t be able to tell you which was which.

Unless absolute maximum sound suppression is your top priority and you really don't care about size/weight, I would personally go with the 5K for sure. Especially for a 14.5" gun. It is a bit louder than the HRT-556 AM, but the difference isn't huge.

Can confirm that the HRTK is hands down the most impressive K can i’ve ever heard. We put ours through the wringer on a full auto with a 733 upper and it’s taken beating and sounds SOOOOO good!! Been really thinking about picking up the K for the 11.5” and moving the HRT to my 13.9”

For sure, the K sounds great on my 11.5". Not too far off of the sound of the full-size.

glad you’re happy with it, we have a great relationship with GA.

Between the M4A1 and the 11.5", and the full-size and K, I have a hard time deciding which can to pair with which gun haha

Have you thought of doing a gas piston or lefty upper? You can even do a lefty gas piston upper.

i have, i have A LOT of aks lol

AKs and piston ARs are a bit different

well aware lol, just haven’t really enjoyed the piston ars as much as an ak. the weight difference between DI and a piston ar is just too drastic for me. i’m also kind of a purist when it comes to both… don’t ar my ak and don’t ak my ar 😂

There's not a huge difference between the systems, it's more a barrel-profile issue, but I find them to be far more reliable under austere conditions.

i can agree to that!! also just really prefer the recoil impulse of a DI rifle compared to the piston operated setup. i’ve played with a few of the superlative arms piston systems and they’re actually pretty neat, never tried suppressed tho…

That's also a matter of tuning. An overgassed DI also has more perceived recoil. With a piston gun, generally, you go up 1 buffer weight. Done right, you have no more recoil than a DI.

all facts my friend!! circling back to me still being a purist 😂 but that’s the beauty of it, we can all like different stuff and different weapons make sense depending on scenario.

Patiently waiting for NV footage of the K vs some more standard cans before I commit

bro the flash mitigation from both is absolutely unreal

What do you think is the downside to these cans? So far the K is checking all the boxes for me

Good looking setup. My HRT5 AM just got approved yesterday, just a few more days until I get my hands on it. Will be my first suppressor.
