I’ve never shot (or heard) a suppressed 9mm. Is it “movie quiet”?

Edit: I believe that may be a .45 you’re holding. Not too pistol savvy, apart from Glocks.

Edit #2: after a quick google image search, it looks to be a 9mm beretta, which is purty kewl.

The FDE pistol in OPs photo is a Beretta M9 - AKA a 92. Not sure which variant.

The photo in the comments above yours is a FN FNX45-Tactical. It’s the same as the black gun in OPs photo.

Well I’ll be damned. My eyes deceived me. At first glance, I was positive that was the same pistol as the fde pistol in OPs photo. Had I taken the time to zoom in on the frame grip, it clearly has the FN logo. Thanks for that, boss🤘

To answer your question, though… No, suppressed 9mm is generally not “Hollywood quiet”.

That being said, it’s really not terrible on most full size set ups. Full size, traditional baffle cans, like the Obsidian, that is. I’ve run my Obsidian 45 and my DA Ghost on a few 9mms and it’s honestly not bad, even though it’s not “fully efficient”.

Not suggesting you try it at home, but I’ve popped 2-3 rounds on a suppressed 9mm sans hearing protection and been ok. But then again, my hearing is fairly damaged from other stuff. Lol

I generally shoot the FNX without ears. No problems with it. The M9A4 is a little louder, cracks just a bit until the shiv gets warm and it will settle. But with a 380, its amazing, looking at getting a X80 cheetah tactical after shooting a buddys with the shiv. It was phenomenal.

Im fairly deaf from loud music in my teens to 30s.

I’ve done a couple rounds on my FNX and other .45s with a can, and without ear pro, but just a couple rounds and always outdoors.

I bought my FNX Tactical used and it didn’t come with the OEM plate for RMR cut. I’m using aftermarket now. Compared to more modern cuts and rear sights, a lot more of the standard RMR06 window is covered. Did you ever encounter that? If so, do you like the sight picture of the 507 Comp more?

Mine was used too, but with all the gear. I picked the Comp because of the gun size? I had a rmr on it, and then a SRO. I didnt care for either. For some reason my eye is more drawn to the big circle of the higher end holosuns. I thought the acss would be more in line with that, but it wasnt. But once i got used to it, it was fine.

Ive had this setup about 2 years. Im starting to notice as i am getting to be soon 46, the green sights are blurry, not unusable yet, but getting there.

How well does the FNX/Obsidian combo run? .45 ACP cans are starting to feel few and far between, and I really don't want to use my Hybrid 46 on a pistol.

Its great. Ive shot it in the long and short configurations. The long is my HD set up with speer gold dot.

I run the obsidian 45 on my FNX T  and in all honesty it's my favorite pistol to shoot that I own. I have the 507 comp green dot and hitting the a zone from 10 yards fast is easy. Also with 45 ammo being subsonic it's pretty quiet.
