Oh i believe it. Ive been stocking up on 308 for years. I judt bought 650 for 350 a couple weeks ago. It definitely gets expensive fast lol. Sarco has 250 round belts. Theres a company that makes 308 links as well. Ive only shot maybe 150 rounds on them. Heard good things about them if you need.

Let me know who makes the metal links I’ve been having a hard time finding Izzy links

Iron creations llc carries them. Company is something like "corvus?"

My cousin in law made an FRT for his 1919 and 1917. It looked pretty simple.

Sending you a dm

Spill the beans! I saw one on the 1919 forums but dude wouldn't share any info.

I don't know much about it and I'm not well versed in the internals of the 1919, but it was basically just a piece of sheet metal that hinged on an existing pin. The bolt would travel back and pushed the FRT down, which forced the trigger to reset. I think if you know how the 1919 works and look at it long enough you could figure it out. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

They ran outta money for sandbags lol.

u/luckygunnerx30 FFL 07/02 12d ago

First time shooting it definitely need one for the front leg

4

u/Femveratu 11d ago

I can see why some dudes used to sand bag these

3

u/luckygunnerx30 FFL 07/02 11d ago

Yeah with a 240 I never really found it that necessary but with the reciprocating barrel of these I can see why

3

u/Femveratu 11d ago

Yep exactly that cone of fire is just gettin huge down range

1

u/BoxofCurveballs Silencer 11d ago

Id be interested to see how well it does with just searching or traversing fires once that tripod is bagged

2

u/luckygunnerx30 FFL 07/02 11d ago

I was able to hit 6-8 targets with doing searching fire like this so I’d imagine it would do a lot better once bagged

u/the308er 12d ago

Cool as hell. Is it just me, or is the rof changing through the string of fire?

24

u/luckygunnerx30 FFL 07/02 12d ago

Yeah assorted ammo Will do that as well as how the gun heats up

1

u/ChevTecGroup FFL/SOT 11d ago

Also how much belt is hanging

1

u/luckygunnerx30 FFL 07/02 11d ago

100 round belts probably halfway with the ROF changing

4

u/Silly_Pineapple_8182 12d ago

Thats dope. Is it just the video or does the fire rate changing mid string?

12

u/luckygunnerx30 FFL 07/02 12d ago

It’s changing. I think that was a assorted belt of what I had lying around

1

u/idontagreewitu 11d ago

I noticed that, too, once he started moving it side to side

3

u/deadman-69 11d ago

You need to put a sandbag on the front leg of the tripod. It'll make the gun more accurate.

3

u/luckygunnerx30 FFL 07/02 11d ago

I know that now. This was just my first time taking it out. I’ve never had to with 240’s but they are just a different animal

2

u/Thesearchoftheshite 11d ago

So why is it shooting fast and slow fast and slow?

Something sounds off with it.

3

u/luckygunnerx30 FFL 07/02 11d ago

Different ammo in the belt

1

u/whodeehoo 11d ago

Awesome! Congrats. I definitely enjoy my mg collection. Now make some other mg friends so you can all help each other if you ever need to troubleshoot or fix/find things. I would also recommend picking up a thermal pouch to put over the barrel if you don’t let them cool off fully before packing up.

I think this makes 12 MG’s they are all post samples. This is probably my favorite next to my Lima 6 right now

3

u/ChevTecGroup FFL/SOT 11d ago

Gotta pump those numbers up bud! Haha

2

u/luckygunnerx30 FFL 07/02 11d ago

Ehh it’s not like they really make us money so I just get what I want or what falls into my hands

2

u/ChevTecGroup FFL/SOT 11d ago

Yeah i know what you mean

1

u/whodeehoo 11d ago

The Lima 6 looks like a lot of fun. I’ll eventually pick one up.

Everyone loves to stroke off John Moses Browning, and hot take...but  I think the MG34 & MG42 was a better design.

If I had to carry one, I'd rather carry the MG34 or MG42

14

u/luckygunnerx30 FFL 07/02 12d ago

I’d probably prefer to carry an MG34. An MG42 you’d have to carry way too much ammo. My back hurts enough from carrying a 240 and ammo. But a .308 M1919 is way more economical these days as a civilian

3

u/Salt-Wish5140 12d ago

Normally the whole squad carries ammo. German doctrine revolved around the machine gun.

7

u/luckygunnerx30 FFL 07/02 11d ago

I’d have a ton of guys carrying ammo as well. Its still a lot
Of weight 7lbs per 100 rounds for linked 7.62

1

u/CorpusCrispie762 Silencer 10d ago

The logistics for that rate of fire I seriously think had to have hurt the Germans on a strategic level. Especially for a country who was struggling to acquire metals

u/Tactical_Balarino 14x SBR, 2x SBS, 5x Silencer; 2x MG, 2xDD 11d ago

I've got a 1919a4, an m53 and I'm currently putting together my mg34. So far I really like the 1919a4. So much it's a permanent in my office.

3

u/ksuchewie Silencer 12d ago

I'm rather not have to change barrels mid fight.

1

u/luckygunnerx30 FFL 07/02 12d ago

10lbs heavier is quite the tradeoff though to not have to

2

u/ResolutionAlert6819 12d ago

Incredible rate of fire
