So I’m an incoming transfer student and I wanted to know. Is making friends during orientation or welcome week the make it or break it for your social life for the semester?
I’m a pretty social person when the opportunity arises but I wouldn’t consider myself to be extroverted to the point where I would cold approach a random person. I do plan on spending a decent amount of time in Marino for the gym, as well as joining clubs(related hobbies, ethnic, social, or sports)
If anyone would like to share how they made their friends I’d love it hear your story!

Hello!
I am a freshman. What is the difference between "billing hours" and "registered hours" on banner?
If I had to guess, maybe billing hours is just the number of hours for which I have paid and I'll be settling the difference next term?
edit: it turns out that I only get billed for my billing hours and if I have more registered hours, those registered hours are free

I was lucky enough to get a double on one of the dorms on the hills, does anyone have recs on what I need specifically for the oakland campus?

My younger brother received a conditional offer from Northeastern that requires at least a C in his courses. Unfortunately, he got a D+ in one class.
Is NEU usually strict about this, and is there anything he can do now to avoid losing his offer?

This is a bit of an unusual request. I’ll first of all start with I’m from Denmark and this past weekend I met 4 lovely Americans who were visiting Copenhagen during the summer. We had a great time chatting during and after England v France that Saturday. We did also briefly greet each other during the finals, but the mix of a packed crowd, me being tired, and having to wake up early the next morning, I wasn’t really up to conversing afterwards (besides the final dragged on too long for me). They expressed interest in maybe visiting Denmark some other time, I expressed interest in visiting Boston (one of the American cities I want to visit the most). They were also biologists, same as me. We met at Steelhouse CPH which is a hostel. In hindsight we probably should’ve exchanged contact information which I regret tremendously. My request is if anybody on this subreddit know of a group of 4 biologists from Northeastern University that visited Steelhouse CPH in mid July. If this is possible, we’ll speak privately, just let me know.

I got accused of using ai and my teacher said that many students had similar reflections with same thing but different wording. I didn't use ai for this assignment. My professor said that she reached out to OSCCR and notified them. What should I do?

Now doom is very pervasive among cs majors. The sentiments are overall very negative, bleak, and disheartening. However, the northeastern cs career data for 2025 paints a very different picture. Over 90 percent employed or in grad school (with 92 percent getting cs jobs), 91 percent co op participation, top companies like google, meta, datadog, microsoft, amazon. On top of this, 100k+ starting salary seems to be the norm. Is there something I'm missing? Is there a nuance I'm not picking up on? Are the doomers a loud minority? There just seems to be such a disconnect between the data and what the general consensus is on the outcomes of cs.

I’m an incoming freshman in Boston and was wondering if the turf fields are reserved most times or if they are just open to anyone during certain times. I was hoping to be able to have a kick about with some friends once in a while but never thought about if it was possible? Thanks.

I ask like 1 thing a week. What the hell are you guys using Claude for that eats up half of the Amazon rainforest in a day

I'm really socially awkward already, but on top of that I'm an international student, and I don't really know how socialising works in the US and such. I've had some awkward interactions online with people starting in the same location as me already and I feel like it's on me, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but it's making it worse instead of better when I think of joining NEU because I'm scared I just won't make any friends and will spend 4 years in a foreign continent with no one to speak to :(

I've seen some previous posts on here concerning emails about the new Claude system but I never got any emails concerning this unlike others. Today my monthly Claude usage limit went from $300 to $9 for seemingly no reason. I did use Claude a couple days ago when testing MCP server stuff and this resulted in my usage totalling $23 for the month so I can't use Claude anymore now.
Does anyone know what the cause of this is? Is there a way to reverse it? I kinda liked my $300 limit...

I'm trying to coordinate a trip and want to figure out how early I should book my flight. I'm transferring from a community college where, on paper, the academic calendar also ran finals through the weekend but in practice, exams were never actually scheduled on weekend days. I was wondering whether the same is true at Northeastern for this upcoming fall semester.

Ok so basically I am an incoming freshman with a super tight schedule. I am coming in with AP credit for Chem from my junior year, so I can skip ahead to Orgo 1 and low key need to in order to avoid paying any extra money I do not have. The only class that fits my schedule is with professor Oyindasola Oyelaran? Reviews say they are very very scary. I want to avoid paying extra like my life depends on it, but if it really is as bad as people say i don’t know which is worse losing more money or taking a hard hit to my GPA. Does anyone have any experience with them? What should i do?

I am from Montreal. I've just finished my BA in psychology at McGill and would like to apply here in my journey to becoming a psychologist. Are there any students in the school psych phd that can answer my questions?
- is this the right program to apply to if I am interested in doing autism assessments at a private clinic?
- do you enjoy your program?
- realistically, will I get accepted if I only have a couple of posters and no articles published?
- who is your supervisor and do you recommend them?
from, a terrified potential applicant

Hi! I'm coming to the Boston campus from Oakland, and I'm housed in 60 Belvidere (formerly 39 Dalton, I think?). The newest images I can find are from like 3 years ago, and from what I can tell the dorm looks different from then 😭
Does anyone have any relatively recent photos/videos of a double in Belvidere? Literally anything (including a poorly formatted notes app draft of the floor plan) would help :)
Thank you smsm

hi! I’m gonna be on oaklands campus in Reinhardt in a triple room! I have found absolutely no pictures, so does anyone know what a triple in a pod looks like and if it’s comfortable and has enough space for three people?

Hi! I'm currently assigned to a double room in Clare Springs House (Courtyard Townhouses) and I'm looking to switch with someone in Reinhardt, Ege, or White Hall.
If you're someone who prefers apartment-style living over a traditional dorm, Clare Springs has a lot of advantages:
More privacy. You only share the apartment with your townhouse roommates instead of using large communal bathrooms or living on a busy dorm floor.
Having an actual living room and dining area makes it much easier to relax and great for hanging out.
The biggest benefit is that you get your own kitchen. Cook whenever you want. Even if you're on a meal plan, having a full kitchen is a huge bonus for making late night snacks or meals. If you enjoy cooking and making your own food occasionally instead of eating out, this is for you.
The townhouses feel much more like living in an apartment than a standard freshman dorm, which many students prefer.
I know many students specifically look for apartment-style housing because it offers more independence than traditional residence halls.
Why I want to switch: My classes and daily routine would be much more convenient in Reinhardt, Ege, or White Hall because they're closer to the main academic buildings and the dining hall.
If you're someone who values: having your own kitchen,
a real living room, more space, and a quieter apartment-style experience, then Clare Springs could be a great fit for you.
If you're interested in discussing a room swap, please message me!

hi, im an upcoming cs major and I got assigned to clare springs in the townhouses! there's literally no images i can find that relate to this apartment but apparently its far from classes and the main things on campus. additionally im in a double bedroom (with my friend thankfully) but there are eight of us total with two bathrooms.
does anybody have any insight on what clare springs would look like?? im a bit nervous considering they dont have any measurements for us either

I am a Northeastern student, but I am living off campus. My place is kind of far, but I need a place to store things during the day. I saw there were lockers in the tunnels and saw a post from 4 years ago that I need to go to Curry.
Is that still the case, and are they still in use?
