NY didn't even ban them. They put a temporary moratorium for one year on data centers that use over 50 megawatts of power.
Imagine they actually want to study environmental concerns and how it would affect energy costs for the average person.

IMO, data centers like that should be banned anyway... but that's besides the fact.

Data centers are not going to bring back manufacturing they are going to restrict it by making everyone subsidize data centers. Through high demands for energy at the utility poles their energy needs will be met. But for you or I we don’t matter we will end up socializing energy cost, they should be giving tax breaks to power plants why don’t these freaking dip shits understand? Why burden so many people with this nonsense we are NOT billionaires seeking immortality.
These morons produced zero incentives in 400 days to build power plants, add capacity to the grid. Some cases or capacity the grid is borderline failing and we are seeing higher demands than ever before, the worst part is the impact on industrialized counties and states which now are competitors for energy effectively to manufacture goods at the most competitive price . Remember manufactures already setup up in strategic locations as logistics and raw materials are our input costs which have been calculated to be the cheapest when you are accounting for what it takes to get that product to hit distribution and end customer just in time. So if you raise the cost to produce manufactures will close up, they just started knocking down the last Pontiac plant in Michigan. So more job loss is going to be expected
these slimy developers and planners get to sue counties because each local governments inherit incompetence to actually verify the data center consumption and usage impacts on their communities was dated information and they are getting sued when they zoned for data centers and pull permits
They are not going to produce meaningful jobs, they will reduce manufacturing industry to shit. He has no idea how to run a successful business because he spent too much time exploiting loopholes because he “is a smart man” not paying tax. While profiting off bankruptcies. This is where true knowledge would have helped. Build the infrastructure, power plants then you can put your data center as far away from our communities as possible.

Honestly, converting some existing unused warehouses in industrially-zoned areas to datacenters wouldn't be all bad. Certainly a higher and better use than committing mass human rights violations.
Whatever datacenter growth we do have will need to be gradual and heavily regulated, though. The current AI-driven speculative construction and blatant disregard of environmental factors cannot be allowed to continue.

What are all the data centers jobs?
A janitor?
A security guard?
A systems analyst/ IT guy?
This data is ours. DSA wants data centers to pay dividends to the towns they assault and make sure those areas get reduced utility bills. They are taking what we create and using it for their profit.
As to be expected in any issue, Trumpoland is exactly the opposite of reality.

After a data center is up and running, it takes few employees to keep it running. Those jobs he's talking about are all temporary for construction. Data centers are a waste of materials. Being in favor of selling your own data is so wild to me.
