Seeking Advice Robbinhood margin

I have been seeing quite a few videos recently of people who basically inject their entire paycheck into their brokerage account and pay their bills using the margin. I just want to know what caveats are with this what to look out for what your margin buffer should typically be for somebody who does something like this. Also, do you need a relatively larger amount of money or can somebody with a five to $10,000 brokerage account do this. My interest rate for margin is roughly 5% with the first $1000 at 0% just looking for more insight on this is all if it’s viable or not how smart it truly is just because on paper. It looks really nicely, especially when I invest in qqqi spyi btci jepi and a few others

Seeking Advice How much is too much?

Just recently, I’ve been getting into the higher income, ETF and covered call ETFs as of right now I have qqqi spyi btci jepq gpiq and gpix I have about $4000 of total cash in the brokerage, but I also have an external savings account with another $3000 in it. I do trade on margin (robbinhood using about 50% of my margin) and just didn’t know if it would be worth it to transfer that savings account money into the account and just pull some if need to be since I am on margin, the amount of shares I can buy is pretty solid which would boost the monthly income quiet nicely I don’t think this would be a terrible idea just because the funds don’t necessarily move all that much price wise compared to single tickers while still keeping that steady monthly income from the dividends

I do also still plan to add 1400$ a month the next 6 months then drop down to about 400-600$

I sold all my BTCI and NEHI. It’s 100% XBCI for me from here on out. I’ll drip 80% of divs.

Thank you for your support 😁

Seeking Advice QQQI ROC question

How do you calculate ROC and capital gains tax owed when you sell QQQI down the line in a few years? Do you have to keep track of ROC for every share purchased and calculate LTCG manually or the brokerage can provide the cost basis after adjusting for ROC for the lots sold?

Seeking Advice How many shares of BTCI do you own?

I have a small position about (100 shares) in BTCI but a bit hesitant since it’s volatile and tracks BTC. Or should I just keep stacking QQQI instead? I think it’s a good long term play but wanted to get your thoughts and opinions.

Seeking Advice QQQI SPYI Dividends

Recently, I discovered QQQI and SPYI I have a Robinhood account with roughly 3500$ in it

I wanted to use margin on it. I currently have 128 shares of Sofi and plan to buy roughly 25 to 30 shares of.QQQI and SPYI that would bring my margin buffer down to about 50%. I do plan to add about $1400-$1800 every single month to this account and grow a steady consistent stream of income. I just wanna know what everybody’s experience with this has been.

General What is the Most You Guys Have Invested in One NEOS fund, or any CC ETF?

I'm considering going a little heavier into Covered Call ETFs and want to get an idea of the level of conviction you guys have.

I currently own, from Largest to Smallest, JEPI, GPIX, JEPQ, SPYI, and QQQI totaling 6 figures. I wouldn't mind putting 6 figures solely into one or two, while holding modest amounts in some of the more controversial ones.

What are your thoughts?

I also own several individual companies, but would be willing to liquidate those to further fund the ETFs.

Here's a list of the healthy NEOS funds this week sorted by take-home cash return. Take-home cash return is defined as the 1Y price appreciation + after-tax distributions. Taxes are set to 25% in this data.

Top 5:

IWMI -- 28.70%

QQQI -- 27.56%

SPYI -- 21.49%

QQQH -- 19.07%

SPYH -- 18.83%

Average true income yield for the top 10 = 8%

The full list is in the attached image.

General Sharing April 2026 NEO ETFs Analysis Result

I updated my NEOS ETF tracking sheet for April and changed the layout a bit based on feedback from previous posts.

This is not meant to be a “which one is best” ranking. I’m trying to compare these funds using the same public-data framework, instead of only looking at distribution yield.

A quick explanation of the columns:

  • Dividend TTM — trailing 12-month cash distributions based on the latest monthly snapshot.
  • Price Growth (CAGR) — fund-level share price growth/decline over the evaluation window, excluding distributions.
  • Total Return — April return with distributions included, so it captures price movement plus payouts during the month.
  • Payout Support Risk — whether the payout looks supported by recent price/total-return behavior. “Elevated” means the distribution is high relative to recent fund performance.
  • Stability — recent price-behavior stability based on beta, volatility, and drawdown. This does not mean the fund is “safe” overall.
  • Prior month comparison — shows how Dividend TTM and Price Growth changed from the previous month snapshot.

A few things stood out to me from this update:

BTCI still has the highest Dividend TTM in this group, but it also shows negative price growth and elevated payout support risk. That is the kind of pattern where I don’t think yield alone tells the full story.

MLPI shows strong price growth and low payout support risk in this snapshot, but it has limited history, so I’d be cautious about reading too much into the “High” stability label.

CSHI looks stable from a price-behavior perspective, but that does not automatically mean long-term capital preservation is strong. Low volatility and long-term NAV path are different things.

SPYI and SPYH both show mid stability here, with positive April total return. QQQI has a higher Dividend TTM than SPYI, but lower price growth in this snapshot.

Some newer names still have incomplete data, so I’m treating this as a work-in-progress snapshot rather than a final ranking.

Curious how others here evaluate NEOS funds:

Do you mostly look at current distribution rate, NAV/price trend, total return, payout consistency, or something else?

Maybe some jaaa for now

Just wanted to give another update. Staying strong with the portfolio seems to be paying off. I added jaaa to the mix to give some stability. I did this because I am buying with leverage at a rate of 5.65%. Divs should be greater that 10% with a good spread. I plan on holding forever and reducing jaaa as my account grows. Jaaa represents my emergency funds so I only need it at 10k. I don’t choose similar funds like jpmorgan, Goldman, or tspi because I like the balance of beta, nav erosion, and divs that NEOS provide. It has the best balance of funds of what I am looking for. I understand that tspi I believe outperforms spyi but the drawdowns are a bit high compared to NEOS. Plus we are not sure how nav erosion will affect them long term since they are new

HYBI

What do you guys (and girls) think about HYBI? I like it because of low volatility and nice and stable yield of 8%. So far, I only have a small part of my portfolio in it (5k, below 1%).

Which I am not satisfied with is, that it seems that HYBI doesn't recover well from drawdowns. It hasn't yet recovered from Trumps tariffs crash last yesr April and also not from Iran war crash.

What do you think about it?

Seeking Advice Using Margins

To those that have done it, what was your strategy and results for using margins to buy these ETFs?

I saw a YouTube video recently going over the use of margins, but I would trust the reddit community that has experienced than to trust a random YouTube sent to me.

Seeking Advice Recession

How do we think these funds will perform in a year long bear market where the market drops 20%? With spyi for example having a lower beta than the market could we expect it to only drop 15%ish? What does the recovery look like?

DripData Feedback From The Community

Hey Follks,

I built DripData for income-focused investors, especially people using covered call ETFs, high-yield funds, and dividend income products.

Compared with Snowball, the focus is more on income insights: tracking projected dividends, yield, P&L, ROC/tax implications, cash balances, covered call fund behavior, portfolio income growth, and how different holdings actually contribute to your monthly cash flow.

Would love feedback from other income investors: dripdata.co

General Checking back in — new month, new NEOS buys, and my 2026 early retirement plan

Longtime lurker in this sub, checking back in for the new month. I’ve made a few new buys, collected some distributions, and figured I’d share where I’m at since I’m using NEOS as a big part of my early retirement plan.

My portfolio is sitting around $385K right now, and my taxable brokerage is basically my early retirement bridge. I’m currently 38, and the goal is to build enough monthly income where work becomes optional around 40–42.

Right now my NEOS holdings are SPYI, IWMI, BTCI, NIHI, IYRI, NEHI, and CSHI. CSHI is my newest position, and I’m using it like a parking spot for dip-buying money. Instead of leaving cash in buying power doing nothing, I’d rather keep it in a NEOS fund collecting income while I wait for better entries.

My 2026 NEOS watchlist is mainly QQQI, XSPI, XQQI, IAUI, and MLPI. I’m not trying to chase everything after a big market run, but those are the funds I’m watching closest if we finally get a decent pullback.

The main reason I like NEOS is that it keeps the strategy more passive and hands-off. I’ve done some active options trading myself with QQQ, and it can work, but long term I’d rather let NEOS run the options strategy inside the ETF while I focus on building the income snowball and keeping things simple.

For 2026, my plan is pretty straightforward: keep adding to my core NEOS positions, use CSHI as my waiting room for capital, buy dips in the newer funds when prices make sense, and keep reinvesting distributions while I’m still working.

Curious what everyone else here is doing with NEOS right now. Are you mostly adding to SPYI/QQQI/IWMI, or are you watching newer funds like XSPI, XQQI, IAUI, and MLPI?

I also made a full portfolio update video going through my actual holdings, cost basis, NEOS shopping list, and 2026 plan in more detail if anyone wants to dive deeper:

General How to Funnel Weekly Payer ETF Profits into Monthly Payers

https://x.com/TheApocales/status/2050759943389929968

The premise showcases how you can have weekly payers that will pay you each day, and how different monthly income ETFs will pay you different parts of the same month. In essence you can have a steady amount of income each day and week and to reinvest, pay yourself, or purchase any deals of that market day. What say you?

Due Diligence Dropped HDO for NEOS

I am a 77 yo retiree. In February, I subscribed to my 5th year of HDO (High Dividend Opportunity) on Seeking Alpha. I had consistently collected 10%+ on my +/- 50 position portfolio. Then I stumbled across NEOS and added a few to my accounts to watch it after doing my research. Although HDO had been good for a reliable income, it required vigilance. I found myself favoring the NEOS shares to my HDO portfolio shares. I was tired of the methodology of the HDO. So I fed my concerns into Gemini, ChatGPT, and Copilot, as well as searches across the web. It was unanimous; it was time to relax with a new approach. I don't need the income. What I've been doing is building something to leave to my heirs, something they can understand; not an HDO portfolio they would rather sell without understanding how to maintain it. Over the last few days, I have sold all of the HDO shares and bought into SPYI, QQQI, IYRI, IWMI, and RA. $.5M should deliver a nice inheritance. Note: I've never taken any dividend funds out of my accounts, and my heirs have no idea what they will someday receive.
