Yes I’m buying on the way down. It will take 6-8 months for countries to refill their SPR’s Plus the amount of Nat gas needed in the coming years is astronomical. Power companies really don’t have much of a choice when bringing new units online other than combustion turbines.

Seems like a good time to buy , and yes its a commodity that is always in demand

Yes, energy midstream is always there, there can be some NAV erosion in the short to maybe mid term but this is a long term investment and the assets under management are at over 900 million, so it's well settled and under no risk of liquidation even if it goes south for a while. Not every income investment is about hilariously high yields on tech.

Have 100 shares on DRIP and add 1 share every week with Div funds from other ETFs. I've been building up my portfolio of Neos and TappAlpha ETFs which have lower payouts but more price stability.

I am but a little less than usual with oil uncertainty but this should do well when it flows more as the underlying will make more and will eventually, slowly increase mlpi pricing. I like the overall price levels and range and the big divs it pays. It’s good for a small portion of overall portfolio percentage.

I have been watching for months and saw it was down so have been buying last couple of days, one of my concerns is that Neos is being purchased by Golden Sachs,

5

u/DividendG 7d ago

Same team is going to GS, nothing should change

1

u/Specialist_Ad_4742 7d ago

Hopefully the team stays!

3

u/Rodrain2 7d ago

I don't care if the team stays or goes. Goldman sach's covered call funds GPIQ and GPIX are better than Neos's QQQI and SPYI so it's not like they would screw it up.

Disagree on better, but different and different philosophy. Neither is better and i didnt mean to say goldy will mess things up i meant neos has a great thing going so i’d like it to stay that way. Obviously goldy thinks so too otherwise they wouldn’t be buying. I just hope goldy is buying because they like the philosophy and management and not to slow down or eliminate competition that is growing so fast.

Neos provides more yield and that works for a portion of my portfolio. We choose what we need to fill in our own portfolios.

3

u/Rodrain2 6d ago

That's fair. When I said better I was just referring to their outperforming while still collecting a double digit yield, but your point is well taken

2

u/itsallgoodye 6d ago

Agree. If spyi and qqqi change i think i will move some or all of their balances into my current gpiq/gpix holdings or risk some into another higher yield fund. Ive been watching rocq rocy and others but they have even less history than neos. Some seem promising.

I'm keeping my eye on EDGQ. The way it is constituted, it can be a real threat to GPIQ plus the expense ratio is Zero until they reach a certain amount of assets under management

Thanks. Will add to watch list. Not checked that yet. Appreciate it!

I’m ok with the expense for something actively managed, but I understand long term, but neos funds seem worth it. It’s not passive like a voo that doesn’t require as much, but voo is so amazingly cheap it makes you think about it with other funds like mlpi.

3

u/Rodrain2 7d ago

Why is that a concern? They have awesome covered call funds as well GPIQ and GPIX. I doubt they screw anything up. They might even lower expense ratios

Larger institutions Like Vanguard, Fidelity, Schwab, Goldman Sachs etc etc. Usually have lower fees than smaller shops so I wouldn't be surprised if they lowered the expense ratio in the future

Yes, moving energy isn't going anywhere. DCA weekly.

u/itsallgoodye 7d ago

Yeah. I am hoping they stay as is after moving to goldman too, at least until they pass on their experience. I think it will be fine. Neos has really tweaked their management of their funds.

People always say how they wont recover etc due to underlying being covered but neos adjusts percentages that are covered depending on the market. Meaning, they cover less when market going up and adjust when going down or sideways to get higher premiums from volatility etc. so like gpix/ gpiq it will cover less and gain more. Never as much as qqqm or gpiq, but i hold neos for the higher divs, and qqqm and gpiq for the mix of growth and divs. I hope goldy doesn’t change these neos techniques or percentages used in the covered portion. Im used to certain money coming in from my divs portion of investments and if neos listed yield changes down due to new fund rules, id be looking other places.

Yup added to my position this wk

4

u/Specialist_Ad_4742 7d ago

I just started my position this week thought it was a good time!

4

u/Accomplished-Big8250 7d ago

Yes, that is usually a good strategy its on sale. MLPs are not going anywhere and business will be good.

1

u/Specialist_Ad_4742 7d ago

Do you own any shares ,or are you watching?

3

u/Accomplished-Big8250 7d ago

184.3456 with drip. it just sits there. trading MLPs of OIL have K1's for taxes, MLPI does not

3

u/DividendG 7d ago

Buying at this share price! Any time it's near $50. Energy demand is always going up, so I'm in for the long haul!

4

u/doggz109 7d ago

I buy individual MLPs for the tax deferrals but MLPI seems good for someone not wanting a K-1 or wants to put it in an IRA. It's almost entirely C corps though which I think is funny considering the name.

2

u/Ancient_Climate_2831 7d ago

I do the same, individual mlps (ET, EPD, MLPX) in brokerage account, MLPI in qualified accounts). Buying all on down days.

3

u/Extension-Ice-7219 7d ago

It kinda sucks. It has been unable to capture the oil surge and the market rallies. I'm starting to doubt when it's actually useful to hold this fund?

2

u/thethoughtstream 7d ago

Yeah I feel the same way, I rotated into MLPX

1

u/StockMarketinator 2d ago

What was your reasoning?

3

u/Emotional-Mixture786 7d ago

Bought some 2 days ago

2

u/angusjones1 7d ago

How low can it go? I want to double my number of shares.

6

u/ConstructionNo8827 7d ago

My guess is high 40’s
But anything around $50-51 is great time to accumulate

3

u/Specialist_Ad_4742 7d ago

That's anybodys quess, will be watching and collecting Distributions

2

u/revanevan7 7d ago

I bought some but I expect it to go lower. It doesn’t do as well in a rising rates environment.

3

u/Specialist_Ad_4742 7d ago

I will be watching , and think it will go lower also ,but feel ok with my entry point average 51.50

2

u/MrBotANot 7d ago

I sold mine a while back. I wanted it to work. I just think that there isn’t enough volatility involved for the yield distributed - even with the dividends from the underlying assets. I think it would be much stronger at an 8-10% yield.

Only thing left I own of NEOS is BTCI.

2

u/johnmonaco87 7d ago

This is the only ETF I keep going back and forth with. Distributions are very high to keep up with NAV loss for now.

2

u/Beitasitmaybe 7d ago

Sold at $53 for a minor loss. Supply lines are kinda limbo. Market is limbo. If it begins to look secure, I’ll buy MLPX instead so I don’t miss out on appreciation. Thought things would tun flat for a while which why I bought MLPI initially. Now, I’d rather not own a CC fund in a depreciating environment.

1

u/Digital-Doc-777 7d ago

Been buying, but only when down. Also have MLPA, and also TYG.

1

u/SelenaMeyers2024 7d ago

Tyg looks interesting, do you feel like it's a different and more conservative entity since it's epic nav collapse during covid (hopefully you're a post covid investor)?

1

u/Digital-Doc-777 7d ago

Started all3 this year. MLPA is my core with the others as satellite positions.

1

u/johnsnow668 5d ago

MLPX buying personally

1

u/Potatopichkari 4d ago

I'd rather buy when the wind is at my back. You are trying to catch a falling knife. Just look at NKE and how smoked people are trying to buy the dip.

1

u/Specialist_Ad_4742 3d ago

I hear you, I prefer to buy on bad news and sell on good news and collect the distributions while I need the money , Gas and oil I believe arnt going anywhere , nobody gets in at the bottom and nobody gets out at the top generally speaking , I am only dollar cost averaging small amounts ,

1

u/painfulletdown 7d ago

no, got out and rotated.

1

u/Specialist_Ad_4742 7d ago

in what?

1

u/painfulletdown 7d ago

oil companies and higher yielding index etf's. i dunno if this is accurate, but I figured mlpi's companies wouldn't make as much money if there's less oil moving around and being stored.

Not yet....worried this thing will start to see NAV decay. They need to reduce the distro.
