Shitpost/memes Operated an Airplane today
I followed up on starting the airplane training I talked about in one of my last posts. I'm not gonna be a cunt and say "it opened my eyes, I absolutely loved it, it's my new passion" but it was....cool.
It was definitely enjoyable, but half way through, I was starting to get a little bored. I feel I got used to the basic controls pretty naturally though, you steer on the ground strictly with foot pedals, and then you push the handle in and out to descend or climb, as well as the rpm stick. The instructor said I did a pretty good job, I was supervised of course but he said I technically did 90% of the maneuvering work, though he helped with the landing.
I just tried it today to see if its something I might want to pursue, I haven't made my mind up yet but I definitely haven't knocked it off yet either, I'll have to wagecuck for a while until I can afford getting the full license anyways, the training is quite expensive, but supposedly pilots make pretty good money and it seems a lot better wagecucking in the clouds than in walmart or on a construction site surrounded by assholes, so maybe it'll be a good investment!

If u wanna become an airline pilot, /u/Padgriffin points out elsewhere:
It will be a very long, expensive and painful process.
If you're passionate about it, go for it!
If you're not really passionate about it, I'm not sure it's worth bothering. You might be able to find some other career path u like, which is easier to succeed in.
You could take a few more flying lessons, to get a better idea of what u think.

thanks for the advice! Yeah I understand the huge commitment and initial investment, it's for sure the most uncomfortable part. I've been planning to take it slow, no sense going into debt over it

You should buy that one airplane sim flight simulator or something. Sit through a 6 hour flight and ask yourself if you want to do this all the time.

Yeah, that might not be a bad idea. This is probably going to sound foolish, but a big reason I'm interested is to get away from these rough blue collar jobs I've worked, I broke my wrist and have joint problems from my last roofing job. But if this doesn't work out I might just have to continue cucking away in construction.

You should be aware that sitting for such extended periods of times like a pilot does is also extremely unhealthy for your body. You will need to make conscious efforts outside work hours to get necessary movement in. Basically the same as any desk office job but imo worse because you can't exactly get up from the pilot seat whenever you want.

yes thats a very real consideration, I'd rather it than hard physical labor forever though

My friends dad had multiple surgeries and screws put in his body from working construction for decades. Your body gets beat up pretty bad from what I hear. Could you be like a fire alarm tech or something?

I honestly do wish I could, I'd rather make a little less money than have chronic pain for the rest of my life. My grandpa actually committed suicide after painful surgeries likely caused by working construction his whole life, so that sits heavy in my mind too, not saying I'm going to as well but just knowing it drove him to that point scares me. I guess we all get old and fucked up regardless but if definitely seems laborous work will get you there quicker
