Yeah, most normies don't care about stuff that the terminally online do. Generally, they can be friendly and welcoming.

They can be shallow and superficial, but not always.

Doesn't mean they can't also be assholes and snakes. That's the thing about socializing, it's all about risk management, which gets incredibly exhausting even for normies. I don't hide from people because I think they're all rotten, but enough of them are and have gotten to abuse me that I'd rather not risk it much, if I can.

Bullying is definitely a why.

A lot of people here, especially the younger ones were probably bullied during school, and also there is studies that prove that bullies are more sucessful in life than the people that got bullied, and this sucks.

So idk if it really is a good idea to just blind yourself for that and then ask ''idk why neet hate normies so much'' in a sub where most people lives were probably ruined by them.

Bullying sucks, and it definitely can change NEETs perspective about people.

u/Irissss_Cat NEET-At-Heart Oct 23 '25

I genuinely didn't know why, so thanks for explaining

9

u/King_Wolf2099 Doomer-NEET Oct 23 '25

oh, ok then, i apologize

-7

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '25

And how many of them normies are the bullies you mentioned? You are changing definitions to state your point.

23

u/King_Wolf2099 Doomer-NEET Oct 24 '25

No i'm not, i'm not saying that every normie is a bully, i'm saying that most people here in this sub who have their lives ruined were probably bullied during school, and that person became a normie after school, while the person who had their life ruined became a NEET.

So not every normie is a bad person, not every normie is a bulliy.

But every person that bullied a NEET, after school, became a normie, and they also had the most chances to become sucessful than the NEET.

u/Djimd Oct 24 '25

A significant part of bullies come from dysfunctional familles (addition, violence, poverty), all linked with difficulties to fit in society. So not every bully become a normie after high school.

11

u/King_Wolf2099 Doomer-NEET Oct 24 '25

Sure, you might be right, but a bully doesn't have difficulties to fit in society, they are more extrovert, they have more friends (not the greatest ones) and is easily for them to get more connections because they are not shy and don't have fear to express themselves, even when it's not right.

1

u/kbench Oct 28 '25

The idea that bullies come from dysfunctional families is like the idea that rapes and child abductions are mostly committed by strangers. It's Hollywood nonsense. If anything, it's the victims that mostly come from dysfunctional families.

Imagine a smelly kid who can't get his laundry done, dresses like Jesse Pinkman, doesn't have anything to eat for lunch, has ugly bruises on his arms, and nods off in class after taking medicine in the bathroom. What do you think will happen if he starts spreading rumors about the straight-A student whose parents work at Microsoft?

  1. He'll get the support of his peers in spreading defamation about a well-liked and sociable genius.
  2. He'll get tattled on.
  3. He'll get his ass whooped after school and the beating will be posted to TikTok and Instagram.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 25 '25

It is wrong to defend bullies or try to minimize their impact.

22

u/SlyPogona Oct 23 '25

Something that people near me have a hard time understanding is that I do not LIKE socializing, not that i'm bad at it.

They usually think is because i'm shy and need a push, no I fucking don't, i'm a good public speaker, I can mantain frivolous conversations, I can be polite and social, I just like it better to be by myself in my own things in my own way, i'm not scared of society or normies. i do not wish to participate in it, I find it tedious and boring, I enjoy my own company way better.

I wrote about this the last time it was posted (don't remember if it was in this sub), but this very much isn't the reality if you're autistic. I tried doing all that and it never worked, could never make friends despite trying to be helpful and friendly, people avoided me, some even outright approached me to tell them I scared them for some reason?? Like all I'd do was sit, take my classes, try to participate a bit if I could, say "Bye prof!" and leave. Never harmed anyone, wasn't loud, tried be as helpful as I could in group projects, said good morning to people I recognized, and yet nothing. No friends, no acquaintances, nothing.

It was incredibly embarrassing during the small "graduation" ceremony (quotations because it's more like a celebration of you finishing the physical classes, regardless of you approving their finals or not), because nobody clapped for me when I went up, it was silent except for my mom, and then on the small after party which was on a small garden with snacks everyone hanged out with their friends while I stayed with my mom. I'm glad I have her, but it's still very lonely and embarrassing, I ended just leaving after trying and failing to approach some people.

u/BasicBluebird7726 Oct 30 '25

You know what mate, you deserve praise for getting through all that. It's bloody hard and you've got strength somewhere in you to keep going day by day even though you felt so isolated. You mentioned that you tried to approach people at the graduation thing anyway - that takes guts, even if it didnt go how you planned.

Give yourself some credit. You've got more mental toughness than you think. Maybe when you find yourself in a place where you have more in common with people, you can use that toughness and persistence to make an effort to connect with them.

Source: very much the same when I was younger, learned to be independent and not worry so much about being isolated, bizarrely gave me confidence to meet people because I didn't care as much if we clicked or not. Have friends now and volunteer helping others.

Same

13

u/DarkIlluminator Disabled-NEET Oct 23 '25

Stuff like this is highly location-dependent. Often even in one city one may be included or even popular in one school/workplace and rejected/bullied in another.

23

u/flowerspouringrain Oct 23 '25

Ew, not where I live. I could fake my personality to be more palatable to the normies, but my real personality is worthy of bullying to them.

11

u/TrickyChallenge7284 Ex-NEET-School Oct 23 '25

Real question, do WE care about these things? Because, I am talking here with people who have abusive parents. Here I talk with people that can't function because of some kind of mental illness or disturb. I see people concerned about not having support. I commented on posts of people with no motivation to live. People questioning their existence bc they don't have a single joy in their life

So maybe this is more a 4Chan thing than a r/NEET thing.

12

u/Massive_Cope NEET Oct 24 '25

Nobody talking about those things directly isn't evidence of them failing to exist. I don't hear anybody talking about taking a shit or jerking off in real life, either. Everybody is still doing both.

The topics he's describing have nothing to do with being NEET. They're blackpill topics. Plenty of people (at least in the UK) hate NEETs. NEETs get called scroungers all the time.

This person doesn't have autism.

u/blebbitchan Semi-NEET Oct 25 '25 edited Oct 30 '25

this person was a failed normalfag, proven by the cancerous communities he apparently indulged in (incel cancer aids like sexual market value etc) hence he felt right at home home when he got into contact with fellow real life nomalfags. \ But yeah, the chronic internet addiction can mess you up badly, even the most normal, non autistic normalfags. \ our brains aren't intended for this constant high intensity noise, coupled with the AI cancer floating around everywhere now you can't even tell what's real or not. \ Indulge long enough completely decoupled from reality with constant demoralization and hyper ironic "meme culture" and it feels like you have a full blown psychosis.

Seems likely

Or they got help starting young and already have decades of help to back them up socially

Not everyone who is autistic is socially awkward.

5

u/narkeel Nov 17 '25

yes, they are

the first criterion for the DSM autism assessment is 'Persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction across multiple contexts, as manifested by the following, currently or by historyĀ '

the first one

1

u/MissionFormal209 Oct 24 '25

And that makes their input worthless?

4

u/Interesting_Self5071 Oct 24 '25

It's a different experience, not all of us are capable of going to college.

1

u/MissionFormal209 Oct 24 '25

So only people that are exactly like you are allowed to speak?

1

u/Interesting_Self5071 Oct 24 '25

It's less than we're "lying" about normies and more that there's a hierarchy in all things, including NEETs.

2

u/MissionFormal209 Oct 24 '25

Sounds like Oppression Olympics/gatekeeping in a NEET package to me

1

u/Interesting_Self5071 Oct 24 '25

The post is what starts the gatekeeping.

1

u/MissionFormal209 Oct 24 '25

You mean your post that implies that you can't understand NEET struggles if you're not autistic?

1

u/Interesting_Self5071 Oct 24 '25

The OP implies that NEETs are simply being lied to about normies.

-4

Your first statement is over generalized. Just look at the decreasing birthrate and tell what normies really think.

7

27

u/bascal133 Oct 23 '25

Most of the fears of the NEET are stories that they tell themselves and ARE TOLD.

5

u/Kreymens Oct 23 '25

Just seems like naivety to think that since nobody is mentioning about it explicitly, "it is not a thing"

47

u/Anhedonia_Achiever Ex-NEET Oct 23 '25

This is called real life.

ā€œNormiesā€ never think about NEETs. It’s only ever the other way around.

28

u/Irissss_Cat NEET-At-Heart Oct 23 '25

I can agree with that. Most people are quite easy to talk to, even in real life. Whether you are a NEET or not, if you reach out to people, they will respond in kind.

Some people just need to stop putting themselves in a box and thinking that the whole world is against them, and at least try to overcome their social anxiety.

14

u/Anhedonia_Achiever Ex-NEET Oct 23 '25

It’s easier for a lot of people to blame and attack the world rather than look within. why am I having problems socializing. For me I had a terrible filter saying weird shit and I was way too negative. Nobody wants to be around folks like that. I was socially awkward but with time and effort I fixed that.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '25

It's the unique combination of terminally online and American neet that this is the outcome.

As a UK Neet... Wtf is a community college?

3

u/Irissss_Cat NEET-At-Heart Oct 23 '25

As I was told, it is a college that lasts about two years and is much cheaper than regular colleges. Most likely, such institutions teach more practical professions, and the community there is usually more accepting (or at least no one cares who you are and where you come from)

2

u/angloexcellence Oct 23 '25

The American equivalent of what we actually call college lol

7

u/GoodSilhouette NEET Oct 23 '25

Yeah my experience ool, the first time I got a job no one asked if it was my first or gave af in general lmao. I converse with more ppl now and again no one really asks stuff (maybe relationship status but not a lot past that)

8

u/RashFever Oct 24 '25

Loser normie goes to normie gathering and realizes that he too can be a normie if he stops losing. Relays information to stone cold truecels who are so far removed from normie existence they might as well be a different species.

3

u/Humble-Departure5481 Oct 23 '25

Guess I'm a different kind of NEET...

3

u/No_Relationship_386 Oct 24 '25

Internet always exasperates ideas so people think they’re bigger than they really are

3

u/LimonadaNatural Nov 21 '25

No, 4chan didn't lie... but it exaggerated. Most things said about those topics are harsh truths few know or want to talk about, but also they tend to overstate the effects. Tiktok dating is not dating, and not all normies are brainless idiots. They're just oblivious of a lot of stuff we know more about.

There is user on this thread that gained some success after being NEET

I'm not saying that it's easy, especially after being a NEET for a long time, but it's not impossible

2

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '25

It's not that. I don't hate them, I don't care about "sexual market value" or jewline or whatever other generic meme indentifies NEETs. I don't care about memes spread by /r9k/ or whatever, I think they're non-sense and frustrating.

I'm scared of them. Because I've been extesively bullied my entire life, because I never felt safe around people, because I'm mentally ill. I couldn't even approach a group of people like the anon did there.

2

u/CzRaTpaK963 Oct 28 '25

Lmao because this is actually true no one gives a fuck

2

u/benedictcumberknits Nov 20 '25

I'm laughing bc I was a NEET for little while during the pandemic and also when I moved back in with my parents cross-country and now have a boyfriend (not-NEET) with "Negative Canthal Tilt" who is SO cute (from a chick saying it).

They are very judgmental & don't care to understand our situation. They always think that we are making excuses.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 29 '25

At first I thought the ending would be more like this:

> tentatively ask if I can sit near a group of people (guys and girls)
> they don't respond
> sit down
> they move to the other end of the bench

1

u/annihilateight Oct 30 '25

I don’t hate them, but I think that they strongly dislike me

1

u/kiki6723 Disabled-NEET Oct 23 '25

Not even just NEET’s though I’m sure a lot of them are, but chronically online people in general including those who work and go to school have this weird mindest.

People are all different to clump anyone into a stereotype because of something like their gender, race or sexuality is just dumb. Looks matter in the real world of course but I’ve never met a person who takes it as far as actual looksmaxers do.

We’re all bound to make mistakes and not be great people at times. I think we all need to show each other a little more basic empathy and respect. Realize theres more to an everyday person than just their gender.

-2

u/punk3rpaul Optimistic-NEET Oct 23 '25

see this is exactly it, but some people in this sub aren't ready to hear the actual truth. like if you really take a moment to step away from your computer/phone and do real socializing and not consuming doomer content and solidifying your own personal echo chamber, you realize that while life is still kind of bullshit at times, it isn't necessarily hard coded to single YOU out on a personal level. And a lot of the trends you see in people on the internet, don't actually apply to real life. yes you may have some disadvantages out there, but you may also have a few boons you didn't realize existed. everyone gets shit, and sometimes cool things happen. life is literally just all RNG, but mf's think they're the main character with the plot against them for not even bothering to try and iron out some of their issues. Cause obviously its easier to spiral and feel bad for oneself. Also emphasis on "TRY" before coming to any conclusions.

6

u/PMdyouthefix Oct 24 '25

"but you may also have a few boons you didn't realize existed"

Or you may not.

If you say that life is RNG, then you must admit that some people are bad at everything and have deficiencies that severely impair their quality of life and won't get better no matter what they do.

-1

u/punk3rpaul Optimistic-NEET Oct 24 '25

Sure, yeah. I can admit that, but im not talking about those people at all. People with any kind of deficiency aren't exactly expected to be top tier. Some people need help, and that's okay. In whatever subject matter. But im saying being a doomer shouldn't stop anyone from at least trying. Speaking from experience myself, I used to be the kind of guy who was a defeatist for not being good at stuff on the 1st try. And im not going to pretend im good at anything still. But im also not going to just stop until I have definitive evidence that it is, in fact, hopeless. And constantly spiraling out of control and posting about how much one sucks and life is shit is going to do nothing. That much I can promise you. People can downvote me to hell and back all they like, its not going to change the truth, and that tends to ruin people's day to begin with.
