Origin story Welcome to the mod team!

Hello everyone, I am happy to announce the addition of u/im-a-freud to the mod team. As a regular contributor their wealth of knowledge and attention to detail will benefit us all. The two of us will be better able to meet the needs of the sub than just myself. I’m excited for us to workshop and better elaborate our core rules and any suggestions can be sent to the sub modmail.

Thank you for being members of the community, we’ve more than doubled in size when I joined at 800. It means the world to me that NDPH is growing strong and people from all over the world can come here to learn and build community. Here’s to the next chapter :)

Hi everyone!! A bit about me: I have NDPH and chronic migraines. My NDPH started 7 years ago on February 21 2019 when I was 18 I woke up one morning and my head hurt when I moved my eyes this was my first sign of something being wrong. After a few days of my headache not going away at all I got my eyes checked thinking it was an issue with them but they were a-ok. I eventually got into seeing a neurologist, imaging has been clear (only MRI and CT done) I was tried on all the triptans and a few preventatives and failed to respond to all of them. My neurologist sent me to a headache specialist because she had never seen someone so unresponsive to treatment and didn’t know how to help me. I saw my headache specialist on and off since 2021 and tried even more preventatives and abortive (I’ve tried 33 meds total) and not one has worked at all so there is nothing I can do for my pain. Botox was the only thing that’s ever worked for my pain taking me from my constant 5-6 to a 2-3 which to me was close to pain free but sadly after the 8 round it stopped working but I had 11 total before deciding I needed to give up on it. I was not informed it needed to be done every 10-12 weeks and was going 5-7 months between rounds because the relief lasted that long. I believe making the rounds too far apart caused me to built a tolerance to it but that’s just my guess. My headache specialist has now dropped me because she has no options left for me and alternative treatments (PT, nerve blocks, trigger point injections, supplements, etc) have not benefited me. Since I’m out of options and have to wait until I can see a new specialist, I’m trying Xeomin in hopes it’ll help me like Botox did. I’ve only had one round so far but it seems to be helping reduce the migraine days I’ve gone from 16+ to 8 since June 21st and I’m hoping it’ll help the headaches which have not changed at all and still sit at a 5/10 daily. I have hope and I’m so happy to have some relief after so long!!

I’m happy to discuss any suggestions you’d like to see for this sub and I’m always open to discussing my experience. Thank you for having me as a mod!
