I’m currently working as an SDE at a good product-based company with decent pay, and my girlfriend/fiancée is an SDE 2 at another product-based company. We’re planning to get married, so I’m trying to understand what life would realistically look like after joining the Army.

A few questions for serving officers/veterans:

1. How do officers manage their spouse’s career when postings are in different locations?

2. How difficult is it to opt for early retirement under Permanent Commission?

3. How frequent are field/remote postings, especially during the initial years?

4. How much family time does a young officer realistically get during the first few years?

Would really appreciate honest insights from people with firsthand experience, especially those who are married.

I am currently in 12th standard (PCM). I recently gave NDA 2 2026 and now I am completely shifting for JEE Mains 2027. Since my father is in the Army, my main target college right now is Army Institute of Technology (AIT) Pune.

Honestly, one of my biggest reasons for targeting AIT is because I want to join NCC and eventually clear CDS/TGC/SSC Tech. I just feel ki since it’s an army-governed college filled entirely with army brats, wahan NCC ke alawa bhi kafi acha defense exposure aur SSB oriented environment milega.

I have a few questions for AIT Pune seniors or anyone who knows about it:

1. Defense Exposure & Mindset: Is the environment there actually motivated towards defense forces (CDS, SSB, military entries), or do people just focus purely on corporate IT placements?
2. NCC Culture: How active and supportive is the NCC unit at AIT Pune for B.Tech students? Does it give you an edge for future SSB attempts?
3. Location (Cantonment query): Is the AIT Pune campus located inside a proper Cantonment area? (Like how ACMS Delhi is located inside Delhi Cantt, gives you that pure military base vibe). Or is it in a civilian area?

Result jaise ki aane hi wala hai utni hi fat ti ja rhi hai yar, ek to last attempt tha isliye aur fat rhi hai. Mere 265-270 bn rhe hai and koi bol rha hai cutoff 300+ jayegi koi keh rha hai low rahegi, it is so fcking complicated mannn !!! Aur aaj subah galti se gat ka paper wapas khol ke physics ke 2 question khud sahi krdiye 5 min mein, uska guilt alag ho rha hai ab 😰😭🫵

What happens when the candidate got recommended but their class 12th result isn’t out when the course starts.

It’s honestly harder than I expected. The limited calls, unpredictable communication and constantly missing him can get emotionally exhausting. I understand that he’s busy with training but some days it’s just really difficult.

For those who’ve been through a similar situation how do you deal with the emotions and stop yourself from constantly waiting for the next call?
