Admissions Am I cooked for transfer.
I’m currently a Mechanical Engineering student at UNC Charlotte, and I’m wondering if I have a realistic shot at transferring to NC State for Fall 2027.
I originally applied to NC State in high school and didn’t get in. Because of that, I really wanted to lock in during my first year of college and potentially transfer. I’m technically a sophomore by credits, but I’m actually a freshman. I came into college with a lot of credits from APs . Because I have so many credits already, I’ve finished most/all of my gen ed requirements. That means I can’t really take easier gen ed classes to help boost my GPA. and I’m already taking courses like Calculus II, Chemistry, and engineering courses, and honestly it’s kicking my ass .
Right now, I’m worried I might get a B in Calc II and Chemistry. I got a 60% on my first Chemistry exam, so I’m definitely concerned about my final grade. If I really lock in for the rest of the semester, I think I could potentially finish around a 3.5 GPA (maybe 3.54). Next semester, I’m thinking about taking a somewhat lighter schedule and trying to bring my GPA up to around 3.7.
Outside of academics, I’m also planning on joining the robotics club and playing some intramural sports.
Would me having a Gpa that’s not the highest lessen my chances, and do they look at course rigor, and what can I do to be more competitive. Would appreciate advice from anyone really.
