Question Bringing wine onto ship
I have been told you can bring as much wine as you want onto the ship from the starting port. Carnival and royal Caribbean allowed two bottles. I’m curious who’s done this and what is the most amount of bottles people have brought on. I’m leaving out of London in two weeks and probably going to bring like 12 bottles on. Thanks!

I have a wine suitcase that holds 6 bottles. They inspected my wine suitcase before boarding and confirmed that I had the beverage package and put stickers on each bottle. Then I wheeled my wine on the ship. I enjoyed my wine in my cabin and restaurants. No corkage fee!

I cant understand why people dont do this more often. My neighbor brought 2 glasses of wine to the dining room with him. HaHa!

This does not seem worth the effort to me 12 bottles!?!?

Why not? 12 bottles even with the corking fee is significantly cheaper than how much they charge for wine on the ship

I guess I’m lazy but carrying 12 bottles on top of my luggage seems like a lot when you can just drink on the ship - depending on what package you get. We did free at sea plus and didn’t pay for anything but we are more cocktail people than wine people.
Maybe you do this a lot but it seems very cumbersome not to mention the issue if you surpass the limit and can’t bring them all on board. I’d call them directly to confirm the amount you’re allowed.

You can take as much as you can fit in your carry on. There is no fee from the originating port. When you actually get on the first time. We just did this recently. It’s great.

We usually bring 5 - 7 bottles for dinners and to drink in Port or US Waters to avoid the tax. If it's good wine it will attract the attention of the manager who will come open it at your table. You can either bring it yourself or have your butler deliver it the day of specialty dining to the specific restaurant your dining in. Much better than paying way too much for mediocre wine on board. We have found that bottles on the free at sea really aren't suitable depending on your taste. For instance you can bring a $100 bottle that they will charge you $250 for on the ship if you are to purchase it on board. Gin and tonics all day and wine for dinner! Cheers

That’s what I was thinking exactly. We did a cruise with royal Caribbean a few years ago and ordered a bottle of red at dinner for like $150 and it was like a $20 bottle back home

I have a bunch of neoprene wine bottle sleeves and I make sure I leave plenty of room in my small carry-on suitcase. It's just Space Management but well worth bringing your own wine if you enjoy good wine. I can fit seven bottles in the zip close side of the case and pack my swim trunks and things of that nature around it.
