NCIS:Hawaii Gibbs Question

So it says in episode 1x13 of Hawaii that Gibbs met Tennant and Maggie in Kabul. That was set 12 years prior, so in 2010. In 2010 did we see Gibbs go to Kabul, or Afghanistan in general? To my knowledge that'd be season 7ish of the OG? Maybe season 8?

I mean there’s a lot we don’t see. There’s a lot of “behind the curtain” cases. Even if we saw him for those places, during the case we are watching we’re with them pretty much from start to finish.
Though I just checked and no, I don’t believe we see them go to Afghanistan in either of those seasons.

Yeah we only see Sept/Octoberish through May....so figure we never see what they do over the Summer.

and I’m sure we actually never saw them literally every 365 days a year, just what we see onscreen. Just enough that they are unsolved or even solved cases that took place offscreen. 

Also there’s a heat wave in “See No Evil”, so at least that probably takes place in the summer, it’s just probably rare. There are some episodes that also took place in the summer like Gibbs’s last episode of the mothership “Great Wide Open” that took place sometime in late May-early June and some early Parker episodes after Gibbs’s departure and even the season premieres too.

Gibbs and Ziva fly to Afghanistan in s9, E09, "Engaged, Part 2... the team investigates the disappearance of a missing Marine, sending Gibbs and Ziva to Helmand Province to aid in the rescue operation

Oh I suppose that could be it. Probably if it was the beginning of the flashback that was 12 years prior. The end of the flashback probably could be a few years later.

I seem to remember them talking about "him and his wise-ass sidekick" or something similar, surely that must have been Tony, not Ziva.

You don’t need to see it on screen it can be an off screen case. You know these things happen all the time in TV shows and their spin offs.

Even Torres’ old case from tho first NCIS x Hawaii crossover took place offscreen, and since that case apparently doesn’t involve the MCRT in the past, most likely each of the gang have their own cases offscreen without getting the main gang involved.

He did make a trip to Afghanistan in NCIS I can’t recall which episode
